Scoop and Crumb

I popped by last weekend in my attempt to try all the good ice cream shops in Brighton, and was waiting in line when I realized… actually none of the flavors were particularly interesting or inventive that day. Previous reviews have mentioned gingerbread (swoon!) and banana split, but on this particular day, all the flavors were run of the mill or common combinations (e.g. chocolate and banana). I didn’t end up getting anything as I’d rather come back and try this place when they do have something festive on offer, and I will update this review at such a time, but I thought it was worth weighing in to say that sometimes they just don’t have anything new or exciting — the kind of thing that a foodie might be uniquely seeking out to try.

The best scoop of ice cream I’ve ever had. Real talk.
Food pet peeves: eating a lukewarm meal and wasting hard-​earned calories on chemical-​laden, generic and overly sugared treats. I cannot fathom eating a two day old donut from the grocery, i just can’t.
If you wanna high five me on this point, then go here safe with the knowledge you’ll have no regrets. I got a single scoop of fresh strawberry, and it was just the right amount of tart, sweet and refreshing. Creamy, but not heavy and packed with fresh strawberry chunks. God what a difference real and good-​quality ingredients make. Husband got the fresh banana with chocolate chunks (similar to B&J’s Chunky Monkey) and couldn’t stop talking about how good it was.
Line was out the door at 4p on a Saturday, but moved quickly and we had our scoops and were headed to the shore with cones in hand in less than 10 minutes. A must do during summer weekend or day trip.

Scoop & Crumb is a wonderful ice cream parlour in the Lanes. I am not an ice cream fan, but I managed to find something I liked each time my friends insisted on coming here. I remember the prices being a bit rough, but the décor and ambiance make it a lovely place to spend an hour chatting with friends.
Go upstairs if you can! The décor is even cooler, and the view is great.

Legit gelato place! I got the coffeebocker which was quite good (too much whip cream though lol). The others got scoops of gelato and sundaes. They said that the toffee ice cream is good.
It’s a cool place to hangout and chill, but it’s quite pricey. I spent over 5 pounds for my dessert… My wallet was crying a bit. But oh well, 5 pounds well spent.
Probably will be back to try the other flavors. yeeee boi

Had the pleasure of sampling this gelateria and wasn’t disappointed. The place itself is decked out in pastel colours and furniture over two floors. I ordered an a coconut ice-​cream. This however had an extra dimension to it, a hint of lemongrass I think which really added to the flavour.
The better half had a Rhubarb and Custard that was suitably tart and sweet. Great ice cream selection with caramel, oreos, and cinnamon and ginger being on the menu.
Aside from ice-​cream they do sandwiches which I didn’t have the chance to check out.

One word: DELICIOUS.
they have amazing sundaes. Easily share-​able but I probably wouldn’t share. Haha. I loved getting ice cream from here on a cone walking along the Brighton streets. I loved the decorations inside as well. If you want ice cream, this is the place to go.

Disclaimer: I went to Brighton for a «last weekend» with someone before we took off for different continents, and there’s a good chance that the combination of sun, sea, and general bliss has colored my review.
That said, my gingerbread ice cream was absolutely perfect. Sweet but not cloying, creamy but not heavy, spiced but not overwhelmingly so. Eating this by Brighton Beach remains one of my favorite food memories, so there you have it. Go! Now!

I found Scoop & Crumb on Unilocal last Saturday, and we decided that sun + beach + sea should equal a trip to get a sundae. We left it till the last day of our short break, and headed over on Monday lunchtime.
It’s not a huge place, but feels light and airy due to the classic ice-​cream parlour style displays, huge windows and some seriously funky chairs.
The menu — promised to be the biggest sundae menu in the UK — is impressive. There are too many to take in, but it’s fun to spend a good 15 minutes just choosing which ice cream to have. S&C also do great waffles and cakes if you’d rather go down that route as well. Plus, there’s fresh soup and Scandinavian style open sandwiches.
I can’t remember the names of the sundaes we had (it’s annoying that S&C doesn’t have a website!), but they were amazing. Mine was vanilla ice cream, hot chocolate fudge sauce, toasted marshmallow syrup, mini marshmallows and whipped cream. Lordy. It sounds sickly, but the quality of the ingredients mean that the result was just fantastic. Great ice cream (made on site), and overall, a lovely combination.
My friend Michelle had a cinnamon and gingerbread concoction, which I slight envy over. The cinnamon ice cream was to die for, and the crunchy gingerbread biscuits were a great addition.
S&C isn’t cheap (or fast), but to be served such a beautifully presented dish of such good quality that tastes amazing, it’s well worth it.

Oh how I have missed you.
I spent a summer in Brighton with a few dozen friends and we still reminisce about this place. I think we found this place with only 3 weeks left of Brighton and came here probably 8 times. The ice cream is delicious and the sundaes are just fun. A friend of mine tried to conquer the 8 ball… fail, obviously. It didn’t look that big, but it destroyed her. The upstairs is very modern and cute, but you’re pretty screwed if you can’t find a place to sit.
I wish we had something like this in Orange County.

This retro ice cream parlour located at the end of East St is a great find! Not only do they serve a range of hot dogs, toasties, Scandinavian open sandwiches and baguettes, they also have over 50 sundaes to choose from. If a sundae is not your style you can get a scoop or more in a bowl or a cone to have in or take away. That’s not all, they have a range of locally sourced cakes that look great (the toffee cake being my favourite) as well as an array of Swedish products such as salty liquorice, rye crackers, jams, crisps, soups and even baby formula. I asked a staff member out of curiosity about the Swedish connection and found out that one of the co-​owner is in fact Swedish. They also offered a try of any of the flavours from the cabinet and told me some interesting facts. The made-​on-​the-​premises ice cream is only 8% fat, which is 4 x less than Ben & Jerry’s, it is technically a gelato ice cream even though the texture seems more substantial and creamy and they are all made using locally sourced organic milk. Another interesting fact is that there is a no nuts policy in the shop or kitchen due to people suffering from nut allergies. Sorry pistachio lovers. The upstairs seating area is great for families and kids as well as couples on a quiet day. This is a popular place so if you are going at a peak time, there may be quite a queue. I can understand why, it is by far the best ice cream I have tasted.

Scoop and Crumb caused quite the stir when it opened a couple of years ago, and it’s easy to see why: they offer amazing ice-​cream sundaes for very reasonable prices, in a cute set-​up and great location. There’s little here to fuss about, except for, again, the fact that it’s popularity means it’s now nigh-​on impossible to get a seat at peak times. Still, if you can get in, you’ll enjoy it immensely: don’t miss it!
The choices here are what make Scoop and Crumb so brilliant: there are over 20 sundaes to choose from, or you can mix and match and create your own ice-​cream delight, with their huge variety of flavours, toppings, and so on. The sundaes are always hefty, filled to the brim with everything you’re looking for, and for these prices at quite a snip too! You rarely pay more than £4-£5 for a dessert that looks like ti could feed two: a great value-​for-​money.
What ties this all together is the lovely little set-​up here, over a couple of floors: all very Scandinavian, with lots of simple pastels and bright, open windows, creating an effortless openness in which it feels good to stuff your face. The smell of Scoop and Crumb is also amazing: a constant, sweet mixture of different ice-​creams and the like, really bubble-​gummy and lovely. If you like ice-​cream (and come on, who doesn’t?), come here for a great experience!

It wasn’t the weather for the icecream but we loved the fantastic open sandwiches. We had the Locally Cured Gravadiax Salmon… very nice. I read on the internet they also do smoked duck with fresh orange which wasn’t on offer when we were there :(
One star knocked off for the lack of open sandwich choice and the, warm, hot chocolate.
I’d happily go back, and dare say will when we’re there next.

There are many things I regret purchasing while here in Brighton. But the only reason I regret those purchases is because I think of how that money would have been better spent towards just one more waffle at Scoop & Crumb.
When a waffle decorated with Nutella and vanilla ice cream was placed in front of me, I didn’t want to eat it. How can you eat a work of art? But after the ice cream started melting, I couldn’t help myself. This was one piece of art I couldn’t help but eat. I dug right in.
It was busy when I was here, but for good reason. This is an ice cream lovers heaven. Hell, it’s not just an ice cream lovers heaven. This place is just heaven. There’s just so much to try, and so many different combinations you can make, you can spend a whole lot of money here. But it’s worth it. Boy, is it ever worth it.

Loved it. Had a sweet cheese monster toastie and a White hot Choc. Layla had latte. Thumbs up all round and only 8 quid.

Cutesy ice cream parlour Scoop n Crumb is a fairly new addition to Brighton’s South Lanes area, but a very welcome one. The pastel colours, adorable name, not to mention array of ice creams, make it pretty irresistible. There’re all your usual flavours plus some rarer ones and sorbets, as well as an arrary of toppings. Whether you fancy a retro sundae or a takeaway cone, they wont disappoint here, the only downer being that it’s not cheap — though it’s perfectly reasonable if you keep it simple. The only downer is the slightly sterile upstairs — boring photo prints on the walls, hard seats, and lots of white — I like the retro thing, but cosy it up a bit and I’d soon replace coffee houses with Scoop & Crumb trips!

Ice Cream heaven! In the summer my flat mate and I became addicted to Scoop and Crumb and I dread to think how much money we spent here! Located at the very edge of the South Lanes, near the seafront, it’s just way too convenient, whether on your way to or from the beach. After a a hard day of sunbathing, there is not better place to seek refreshment! The décor is vibrant and cutesy, just as it should be.
The range of flavours is incredible: they have all the usuals… vanilla, strawberry and chocolate, as well as many more unusual flavours, such as Blueberry, White chocolate and Watermelon. As well as dairy ice-​creams, they have yummy sorbets, with flavours including coconut, mango and raspberry. As the name implies, you can choose form a variety of toppings– jazz up your ice-​cream with nuts, hundreds and thousands or good old chocolate chips! Mmmm. In true American ice-​cream parlour style, there are also sundaes available.
The only problem I have found with this place, is that its way too easy to get carried away with multiple scoops and all sorts of toppings and sauces… before you know it, you’re faced with an ice-​cream the size of your head and a bill that will make you wince!

This is a great ice cream parlour, offering wonderful ice creams, and sundaes for anyone willing to pay — and even for some who aren’t! -. My friends and I came here once and they managed to persuade the friendly staff to let them try a load of free samples.

Okay, I’ll meet you at Scoop & Crumb.
A two minute walk from the sea-​front and Brighton Pier, Scoop & Crumb is a vintage-​looking ice cream parlour tastefully decorated inside and out with pastel colours and cute wallpaper. They make all the ice-​cream with locally sourced milk and serve their tongue-​tickling Sundaes in retro glasses. If you can’t manage a whole one — and let’s be honest, any self-​respecting Unilocaler should be able to by now! — they also serve individual scoops of ice-​cream.
Flavour-​wise, we’re talking everything from the standard vanilla, strawberry and chocolate to plum crumble, christmas pudding and rhubard and custard. Yummy.

Three words: coconut ice cream. With chocolate ice cream. Phooey! That’s more than three words. Ok, obviously this ice cream is going to need more than a few words. Scoop&Crumb is as delectable a place as their ice cream, the white, lime green and pink create such a light, bright space to really enjoy their deserts. To me it’s like somewhere that the girls from Sex and the City girls could happily sit besides the cast of Grease– they have managed that near impossible thing of updating retro and giving a new twist. So the ice-​cream is more expensive than a ready –made cone… it’s more for a good reason. try their coconut ice cream and see if you don’t agree.
