Never know why people rate this place. You can tell all the bands that play there have to pay for their pitch cause I have never heard a good one. Waitress service only. Overpriced noisy tourist trap. Avoid! If you must buy overpriced beer walk a little further towards the pier to the fortune of war, buy yourself a pint and sit on the beach and enjoy the view/ambience.

The outdoor seating here is perfect for a summer afternoon drink, but it won’t be a quiet one. The bar has live music acts on at the weekends and they are pretty loud. Great atmosphere though and last time I went they had a mojito bar outside and the drinks were mixed expertly. Lovely and refreshing — I didn’t want to leave.

Okay so they have live music here and the bar is generously sized as is the outdoor seating area, but for me Gemini is a chav market, it just seems to attract people I’d rather give dodgy directions to so they end up at Land’s End. If you need cheap watery beer in the height of Summer you might tolerate it — but truth be told you’d be much better off voting with your feet, buying a cool six pack from the offie and sitting on the beach. Rant over.

Just thinking about this place makes me long for the summer months. When I’m heading to the beach on a gorgeous, hot day Gemini is usually my first port of call for a huge jug of Pimms or chilled pint. The trouble is that most people in Brighton have the same idea so, like all places along the beach, it gets packed pretty quickly. It’s also table service only — so you know that when people sit down here, they ain’t moving for a long while! What makes Gemini better than the rest of the bars down on the promenade is that they pretty much always have a live band out the front belting out 90s and early 00s Brit pop and indie covers. There’s not much I can think of that’s better than leaning back in your sunnies, soaking up the rays on Brighton beach to the sound of ‘We Are Young’ by Supergrass. Awesome. Roll on summer!

Gemini Beach Bar is by far the biggest and busiest bar on the whole sea-front. It’s also the one that attracts the least Brightonians and the most tourists. Pick any weekend from Easter to September and you’ll spot large groups of holiday revellers including stag and hen parties sat outside Gemini for hours at a time. The attraction is the large courtyard with dozens of tables, the enviable sea views, the pitchers of beers and cocktails and the free entertainment. From lunchtimes to early evenings most weekends, Gemini employ local musicians and bands to play live. It’s usually bad covers of everyone from The Beatles and Rolling Stones to dance bands like Soul II Soul, occasionally however you’ll hear an original composition. The service is good and there’s an okay food menu including burgers, chips, salads and sandwiches as well as a big selection of beer, ales, spirits and cold drinks. The company however, usually gets more and more rowdy as the day gets on. In short, I’d rather sit on the beach with friends and a bucket of cold beer than with five hundred strangers getting slowly intoxicated to bad music!

The Gemini Beach Bar is one of the best places to be in the sunshine, it the biggest bar on Brighton beach with a huge amount of outside seating, but of course it’s still as difficult to get a seat as anywhere else in the area! They have table service I guess to stop the queue spilling out the door so they hoard waiting staff running about with chip and pins. They also have live music most summer days which you can here all along the beach. Its a great little beach bar and makes the most out of its fab location

If you have a large group of friends that come down to visit, are intent on going to the seafront in the middle of a hot Saturday afternoon(even after you’ve pointed out fifteen times that prices are double, service is slow and your going to get badly sunburned), then I’d probably take them to the Gemini Bar. Okay, you’ve guessed it I can’t stand the seafront in the summer on a busy weekend — guilty as charged. There’s a few bars like this along the front and if I’m honest, the service here is the best of the bunch, very friendly and helpful even when they’re rammed. They do a pretty good menu too, the burgers and chips are really nice(make sure you put extra salt on after sweating in the heat so profusely). The live acts that usually congregate by the arches can be really good. We saw a fantastic Hendrix impersonator who after a few numbers had everyone dancing around. Not enough shade for gingers like me though I’m afraid!

This is a summer institution in Brighton Venture down here on a weekend afternoon and the place epitomises the spirit of Brighton beach in summer — packed tables of laughing, chattering happy people drink jug after jug of pimms or beer and listen to the live music that normally plays here. Inside, the place is really nothing special, and I’d advise the Fortune of War if you want a pub style drink on the seafront. But for good summer vibes, this is the place to be.

Gemini is one of the mega seafront bars with a huge amount of outside tables in the summer months. Its usually the venue you can here down the beach as they often have live music or at least pumping reggae tunes satisfying beach revelers as well as their ow customers. The only weird thing is that when its mega busy its table service for drinks which takes some getting used to. But they have enough staff and and it actually makes it a lot less stressful, as bars can get inanely busy on the beach in the sunshine. They have all sorts of live music from local rock cover bands to dance acts. I dont know if I’d venture in the colder months though…

If it’s a hot sunny day then this is the first place I think of heading ! Situated in one of the arches along the sea front this bar is a legend ! Has a really nice seating area inside. If you can get one of the seats along the window then you have a great view to people watch people walking along the promenade. If it’s hot, however, then you should make the most of their outdoor seating ! Bar offers table service — but be prepared to wait if they are busy. If you can’t get a table they will give you your drink in a plastic cup so that you can go and sit on the beach ! You can’t ask for much more in life than that !
