The Ace Café Brighton burn up is to motorbike enthusiasts what Good Wood revival is to vintage race car owners. In fact the two cross into one another in small quantities every year is no surprise. The ride falls in early September every year and, despite being a big hairy biker fest, is a real family friendly event with live bands and motorcycle stunts shows at black rock station. There is also the menagerie of trade stands from bike insurance to oils to BHP testers. The whole event usually lasts about four hours and the last few years that I’ve attended it’s had a great atmosphere with the sound of revving engines everywhere and a host of exciting smells like hot engine oil, petrol and burger stalls. Many of the regulars make a massive effort too, you can expect to see Teddy boys, café racers and greased up Rockabilly fans ago go. If you do find yourself in Brighton in early September then this is an utter must see event, which is just as well as getting out of town that day can be nearly impossible.
