My first time in here I was overwhelmed by the variety of fresh produce and the wall of local stock. Upon entering you, walk into a rustic looking room with wooden floors and walls lined with stock you might struggle to find in other places. However the majority of the stock seems to be sourced locally and is mostly from within the United Kingdom. The fresh deli food is refreshingly varied and changes day to day, fresh fruit and vegetables, again locally sourced are available to purchase onsite, and the fantastically resourceful staff use the same produce to make the food they sell in the Deli. I am working my way through the Deli counter at the moment, but the black pudding sausage rolls are amazing, no other word for it. I’ve had two different soups, again homemade and you can really tell. The soup was seasoned perfectly and was ready to be devoured.(The lentil and ham was especially good.) Another thing I have to rave about from the deli counter has to be the antipasto, particularly the olives. The olives in this deli, may just be the best olives I’ve ever eaten. I don’t even like olives, and yet I cannot seem to stop myself from wanting more. While there is no on-site facility for eating the food or drink, the deli doesn’t seem to miss this part of the service, it not being a café after all. The staff all seem to be fairly knowledgable of the stock they sell, offering tasting platters of their more unusual or newer stock on occasion. The staff seem dedicated to allowing you the chance to experience all they have to offer and give you the opportunity to find something which you have to keep coming back for.

Just the other day I popped into Brown & Co and fell in love all over again. Every single time I’ve visited I’ve been bowled over by one: the most pleasing of aromas, two: the sincerely warm welcome and three: the seriously drool-worthy freshly made goods. Whilst I was first met by that heaven scent foodie smell, I was next greeted by all three members of staff, even those in the back popping their heads out to say hello, which was really nice to see and definitely put a smile on my face. The staff here are always smiling and whipping up delicious treats which are so tempting. Just catching sight of a Facebook post of their daily concoctions has me set to hop on my bike and browse, browse, browse. You just need to take a look at the counter to see the offerings but, believe me, you’re going to be tempted to have a little of everything; granola bars, double layered thick-oozing-iced cakes, soup of the day and a proper lunch dish too. — Empanadas was the meal du jour when I was in. — Mmm! I had to show some serious restraint not to buy everything because this place truly is foodie wonderland. My picks this time round were some organic popping corn, apple crisps, eggs and ‘different breid’ sourdough. I LOVE the bread and I’ll definitely be back for that on a regular basis. It was all kinds of doughy perfection and I seriously salute Brown & Co for sourcing and selling such great quality produce. I love the local market feel and also the buzz of the steady stream of folks popping in for coffee and a bite when those lunchtime rumblings cry. I’m delighted to be joining the ranks and I’ll pop in Brown & Co every moment I can. — B & C, you’re just too good to resist!
