Global Mapping are an Ordnance Survey Mapping and Data Centre, are also OS Licensed Partners, are resellers of Bartholomew’s and Philip’s map data and source data from around the World for particular requirements.

Global Mapping are also publishers of a range of Wall Maps including The World, Europe, Africa and British Isles, their own Planishere & SkyView Posters

History

Established in 2002.

Global Mapping was formed in January 2002 offering a wealth of experience in mapping and is based in Brackley, Northamptonshire, offering the full range of GIS and DTP solutions producing maps for print, CD, GIS or Internet.

Set up by Alan Smith (ex MOD, Geosurvey, ESR Cartography, Lovell Johns) Dr Tim Rideout (ex Collins Batholomew) Mark Fairbairn (ex Collins Batholomew) and Jennifer Pope (ex Outstanding Map Distributors)

Global Mapping have published over 170 titles including a range of World Wall Maps, Continental and Country Wall Maps, aerial view posters and award winning maps about plate tectonics and the environment. They also publish a successful range of space products including a unique Planisphere. They also developed a quirky paper globe that children assemble without scissors or glue!

Global Mapping also offer a bespoke mapping service adapting their maps and atlases for the corporate gift market and are UK distributors for the limited edition EARTH World Atlas.

Business Owner

Alan Smith, Managing Director, has extensive experience in cartography having started out over 30 years ago with the MOD. He has since worked for Geosurvey, ESR Cartography and Lovell Johns before establishing Global Mapping in January 2002. Follows Brentford FC’s fortunes (and misfortunes!) and loves Brackley Carnival as he gets the chance to dress up.
