Firefly Wine Bar

For a wine bar, Firefly is really good. I had a glass of rose there during one of my visits to Bolton, and the impression left was quite favourable. The best thing about Firefly is its location: you get a great view into the street if you sit by the window. As was noted before, the outside area is good for summer chills.

This is quite a small place, probably what people used to call a ‘wine bar’. It’s not the sort of place you’d go to relax as such, there are no big settees or comfy chairs here, just a hardwood floor, tall tables and bar stools. There is a plasma on the wall, but it’s not really a football bar. Favoured by good looking professionals (present company excepted) and younger types on their way to nightclubs (not for a long time). The odd footballer has been seen in there too (very odd actually — have you seen what some of them wear these days?).
As noted elsewhere on this site, there is a large canopied, decked area outside which is fantastic in summer and not too bad in winter if you’re wrapped up warmly. There are two adjoining restaurants, and you can get snack versions of their meals in the bar.
Good place, can be very quiet during the afternoon and absolutely rammed if you wander in on a Friday night.

This is a great little wine bar, and I mean little! It joins on to the Thai Restaurant Mai Tai (which is also great). I love this bar on a friday night after work as it is popular with local professionals. It has a nice atmosphere and a terrace outside to sit out in the summer.
