A nice little chip shop, Yew Tree is quite a treat. They serve the traditional fish and chips, which taste really nice. I’m a sucker for fish and chips, so when I can I’ll indulge in a little treat. This place was introduce to me by a work colleague, who suggested I try it after we were having a general conversation about food(yes, random I know) but it ended up being a useful conversation. They produce quality food and pretty quickly as well. If you like, you can even order your food over the phone and then collect it. This is easier for those who live near the chip shop, who are coming back from work and maybe want to get some food quickly. The place is clean so you don’t have any issues about buying food from there. They serve large portions and a selection of other foods. Highly recommended for those fish and chips lovers!

Sometimes, you don’t always want to cook food, and enjoy picking up a quick chippy tea. The Yew Tree fish bar is a great place to spoil yourself on those odd occasions when you feel the need to divulge in some greasy fish & chips(in true English tradition of course!) I often order fresh roe here over the phone, which is ready within 10 minutes for collecting. At most fish & chip shops, I’ve had to wait a good 20 minutes. The roe is of excellent quality too, it’s cooked perfectly, you get a very large piece and it is full of flavour. And incase you didn’t know, roe is in fact cod eggs.(I’m sorry if you don’t like roe, I’ve probably put you off whatever you are doing by going into too much detail, but oh well!) The cod is also very tasty and comes in large portions. It costs no more than £4 with a small amount of chips. You really do get value for money.

I love the fish and chips from here, potentially the best ‘chippy’ I have been to. It’s very cheap and even when there is a queue you never wait longer than ten minutes. I recently brought two pieces of Southern fried chicken and chips for £2.40 and thought it was spot on. For the price it is well worth a visit. The staff are friendly and always greet you with a smile. If you’re in the mood for a traditional British chip shop then The Yew Tree is just that.
