We was in the Walkabout for a night out on a saturday For me it seems like a pretty big club with good music. A lot of crazy drunk people(like everywhere to the time) where around, they got big 2 dancefloors with charts/hip hop rnb music. Both was really good. Prices was okay. You will spend around 3.50 Pound for a pint beer. They have a small terrace for smoking. 5 Pound entry. Mixed crowd. We had fun!

Ok here goes, The venue itself is quite a good place, they are in the middle of a refurbishment, so we see what it looks like next time I visit. If your for a quiet drink it can be good on certain nights of the week or daytime or if you go to watch the sports, there are many special events which take place so keep a watch out for them. Friday and Saturday nights are just generally busy they have 2 rooms… one room upstairs which plays all the cheese towards the end of the night and mix of everything in general. The room downstairs is more for people who like dance, hip hop not a fan of that room but that’s just down to taste. The floor upstairs can get slippery so if your planning to have more drinks then you thought you did be careful not to hit the floor on it. The crowd is a bit mixed obviously just like everywhere you get prats and you get good people out for a good time, but in general the majority of the crowd isn’t people looking for trouble and i’ve never saw any fights kick off in there. The drink prices are not cheap either unless your going on student nights. Out of all the broad street bars it is probably the 2nd best bar on the street in my opinion, just with obviously the hazard floor upstairs and some of the bouncers are not ones to trust so not very friendly. I had an incident in there where i dropped my phone and the bouncer tried to steal it, luckily my friend saw it, and demanded it back.

Watched the USA rugby team get beat 64 – 0 here and it made for a sad time. Drinks were good. No crowd at all.

I had intended to go along to watch the Super Bowl here. I heard you could book a table with a decent view and some beers and food. I called in to enquire, the door staff watched us unhelpful as we tried to figure out which of the many doors we could actually enter by. Inside was like a dark, dank unwelcoming shell. It was a fairly quiet afternoon but even so there was a wait at the bar due to the young lad not keeping an eye on who came first and just serving whoever appeared directly in front of him, whilst waiting we did notice the distinct smell of a unclean bar(yuck) and after almost 10 minutes another member of the public thankfully pointed out that I was there before him. I asked about the booking process and was met with«oh I don’t know that’s someone else’s job». He at least offered to take my name and number and get this other person to call me later in the day. By the day of the Super Bowl I had still not heard from them, so I opted not to go back.

Aussie bar or walkabout whatever you want to call it has been one of my watering holes since the early years of going up town when I was 18(honest I wasn’t younger hehe) Until recently it was pretty much the same old place pretty much, recently it has under gone a face lift making a outdoor/indoor covered smoking area, which gets pretty rammed on a Friday or Saturday night. The lay out of the bar has pretty much stayed the same but the décor has changed and it looks a lot better(doesn’t look run down anymore) The door staff are pretty much the same as they were 10 years ago still treat everyone that walks in as a suspect of some kind haha. I haven’t had food here in years but it looks the same as any other chain bar when it comes out and for the price you can’t really complain! They always have deals on for corona which gets a big thumbs up from me! All in all just your run of the mill chain bar on broad street we all know the type right ;)

I have been going to this place for years along with many places on Broad street and downtown Birmingham over the years every time I am on business in the area. The Walkabout has been around for years. It is generally louder later in the evening when it becomes more club like and all I usually get are drinks. Its a party atmosphere and fun to watch soccer(football) and have a beer with colleagues.

Decent bar with a decent beer selection. They do a lot of sporting events, so it’s good for that. Don’t order the nacho’s, they are a waste of money for the 7 pounds they cost.

Great for watching rugby but get there early to get a seat! I must stress my review is based on watching the sport. I would not go to this pub otherwise! There are loads of screens and service at the bar is quick. However, generally the pub is cold and a bit ‘shed’ like. The toilets are always dirty too!

Great for watching the rugby(or if you prefer ir, football). More screens than you can shake a stick at and a sound system good enough so you can still hear the game over the crowds. Also great for a night out, had many a fun night out with the lads here. Over two floors, both with big bars so it never takes too long to get served, and reasonably priced. Definitely my choice on Broad Street.

Walkabout consists of two floors that are very different in music yet very satisfying to customers and party people that enjoy these particular genres of music like old school RnB, hip hop, current RnB and Indie. If you happen to go to Walkabout on a weekend night you can tell the division between the floors. The teens and young adults tend to be on the bottom floor and the mid-twenties and early thirties category tend to stay upstairs where the old school vibe it. The layout of Walkabout is really spacious and it is easy to lose friends within this venue; also people tend to crowd around the dance floor and bar making it harder to look for friends or to go about if you’re in a group or large party. The drinks at Walkabout are varied and can range from few quid to almost ten pounds.

This review is focused on the function room available at Walkabout. The downstairs room can be booked for private parties, which can be accessed from a separate entrance from Broad Street. They have designated security and as I had an invite-only event, I asked guests to show their invites to security in order to be let in. The room has a beautiful view of the canal from the ceiling-to-floor windows around most of the venue. There is a large dance floor, big bar area and ample seating. You are free to book your own DJ and cater for your own function, although they offer light snacks. I was impressed by the service of the manager on the night who was very polite and went to lengths to ensure we had a good night. He was accommodating to our requests and I would definitely recommend this venue for your private party!

This is an ideal venue for a good night out in Birmingham’s popular Broad Street. Whether your after just a beer, a quiet drink, or a good night out with your friends, it’s always lively in here. The crowed is mixed, extremely popular on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, and the drink prices are reasonable. You may find there is quite a wait to get served after 5pm. The bouncers also keep an eye on you, if your too drunk, you may find yourself man handled out of the premises. The place does have an authentic Australian feel, hence the name and it’s quite a nice friendly establishment. A great location with a Taxi rank right opposite, and also near to the restaurants if your peckish after, and local cash machines nearby. The TV is also on with live sports which creates a nice atmosphere, albeit somewhat loud. Give this a go for your next pub crawl.

Compared to other Walkabout’s I have been to throughout the country, Birmingham’s Walkabout, situated on Broad Street has long been a favourite of mine. Despite being similar to other Walkabouts in style and service, the location of this particular Walkabout makes it a great destination for those intent on having a drink and a meal, before moving on to somewhere else. This specific Walkabout is a favourite of my group of friends when it comes to sport. Whether it be Rugby or Football, Walkabout always promotes a great and friendly atmosphere which everyone enjoys. The prices of some drinks may be slightly excessive in comparison to others, but nonetheless, Birmingham’s Walkabout, with its perfect location is head and shoulders above any others I have visited.

un bar sportif plutôt ambiancer, calme et les boissons sont un peu chère mais une bonne ambiance dans l’ensemble !!!

Deceptively huge inside, The Walkabout is one of the busiest, rowdiest venues on Broad Street, open til the wee small hours and providing cheap(ish) drinks and loud, cheesy music for the ultimate in unpretentious nights out. For the most part, the atmosphere is quite friendly, but you do occasionally get the odd prat in there, as you might expect from somewhere so utterly crammed with lagered-up twentysomethings looking for a good time. During the day, they serve reasonable Aussie-themed food that is stodgily filling, but really not going to knock your socks off. When there is sport on, they have several huge TVs and plenty of seating for you to enjoy it. It can be a nightmare getting served when the place fills out, and it’s easy to lose your friends due to the size of the place and the fact there are two levels with a busy dancefloor on each. If you’re in a large group that just wants to get trolleyed and have a drunken dance, Walkabout is one of your best bets.

Located on Broad Street, Birmingha — this is the ideal place to start your evening, or to visit pre-club. Its large, its ususally packed and the beer and food is great — what more do you need? Major sporting events(football, Rugby) are more often than not played here, so if you fancy getting your mates together and heading down to watch ‘the match’ there is not realy a more welcoming place.

Relaxed atmosphere, decent food, good service. Some drinks can be a rip off — a Magners cost me around £4.95 last time I went! Still, no attitude which is always a good thing. especially on Broad St!

Big bar, open day and night and serves food. Similar to most Walkabout pubs so if in a different city at least you’ll have the same feel. Large space, large bar and plenty of room to dance. Both upstairs and downstairs are enjoyable playiing a range of music. Thursday nights out I wouldnt go anywhere else.

In the middle of Broad Street, Walkabout brings Oz to the UKs second city. Not(at all!) dissimilar to any other Walkabout bar you’ve ever been in, but that isn’t a bad thing. It’s a big bar, with plenty of big screens for you to watch whatever live sport they’ve got on. It’s fun, cheap and lively.

Came here with friends to watch the football — I was amazed at how many screens are in this place! It doesnt matter which way you look or where you standyou will always be able to watch whatever sport is on! Decided to have lunch while we were there. My jacket potato was pretty small, generally not very impressive. It was just okay. I noticed they have kangaroo on the menu so if your not in the mood for your average chicken, beef or pork then you may want to give it a go?
