Specialties

Live Music 5 nights per week. Tower of Song is a unique artist-led venue, a true listening environment with the cheapest drinks in town.

History

Established in 2006.

The thriving artist-led music venue that is now the Tower of Song began as a derelict building on the outskirts of Birmingham, England. Bucking the trend of theme pubs, sports bars, and karaōke joints where music is an afterthought, Tom Martin set out to create a unique venue where music was the sole focus.

The name, derived from a song by Leonard Cohen, reflects the mission of the venue, which is to preserve the integrity of live music, respect the performing artist, and offer the audience an opportunity to experience live music in an intimate, quality setting.

Many volunteers helped in the construction of the Tower of Song, inspired by the vision to come together as a community and create something unique. Local artist Mike Browning painted a series of murals on the walls, featuring seminal musicians, singers and songwriters. Here you will find quality music, great community and the cheapest drinks in town! Come and see for yourself!

Business Owner

Born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Tom Martin came of age at a time of strife and violence, when «The Troubles» were raging. He plied his trade as a boxer, but found he was more a poet than a warrior. As a young man he set out, armed with a guitar and a handful of songs, to explore the world and make his mark as a musician and lyricist.

.

Now based in England, Tom is the founder and proprietor of the Tower of Song Café, a dedicated venue for quality acoustic music located in Cotteridge, on the outskirts of Birmingham. He performs both solo and with The Tom Martin Band.
