I managed to get an infection which left me very feverish over the weekend, so I came here to see a doctor, rather than take up space in A&E. Staff were very calm and friendly, even though some people were getting a bit impatient. It’s not a big enough waiting room for the volume of visitors and they see you in order of the seriousness of your ailment. Mine was apparently not very serious so I waited sitting on the floor for over an hour and a half before a doctor saw me. The appointment was brief, and he confirmed what I thought it was and wrote me a prescription– there is a pharmacy next door, which is convenient. I’d suggest trying to get here as early as you can in order to see anyone within a decent time. You can also make appointments, I discovered, by calling 111. Even if they don’t seem that convenient, I’d suggest accepting it as you are likely to be waiting far longer than that. They can’t really help volume, and I came in fairly late at around 11.30, so that didn’t help my waiting time.

Unfortunately I have visited this heath centre a number of times, due to my own clumsiness. If you have any major accidents I would recommend going straight to A&E though, as this place is always extremely busy and you can end up waiting hours to see someone. I had a minor burn on my arm a while ago, but it needed professionally redressing every few days and to save me going back to the nurse at my local surgery, my doctor recommended visiting this walk-in centre. One of the things I noticed about the centre was that people tend to visit here when they have the flu and so, when the waiting room is full of people sneezing and coughing, it puts you off coming again, or even staying to see a nurse for that matter. I did leave once because of this and arranged to see the nurse at my local surgery instead. If I need to visit here in the future I will come when it opens so that I do not have to wait and I would recommend the same for you too.
