Sabai Sabai Moseley — I remember this place in the early /mid naughties when it first open, yonks before its big sister landed in Harborne. This wee little eatery is a two minute walk from the main Moseley road, just past the cop shop, just before the Pat Kav. It’s cozy, intimate and compact. The food somehow seems more authentic than at its sister restaurant. There were two of us, we ordered the mixed starter platter for two, two mains, two sides and two soft drinks which came in at just under £50. It’s worth booking if you want a table at weekends. The foods fresh, the menu’s extensive, you’ll find lots of the usual Thai suspects and quite a few dishes to broaden your horizons, especially if you swim into the seafood options. Go for a cozy mid week meal for two, or book for a feast with a big group of friends n family. There’s limited free evening parking on the street outside, a cash machine across the road and the Pat Kav if you fancy a pint before or after. Sabai Sabai’s been going strong for more than a decade, nuff said.

This eatery is near my work place and is therefore really convenient. It’s very cosy and small. The staff are really friendly. I normally pad thai noodles(probably because they are really sweet). I must admit that even though the food is nice, I don’t believe it to be value for money l. The noodles are just under £10. £7−8 would have been reasonable.

A charming low light with pleasant soul music in the background makes a nice cozy atmosphere for Moseley’s Sabai Sabai. The dishes follow the line of traditional Thai food, but with a contemporary twist, and are accompanimed by an extensive wine list. For a starter, it is worth trying the Toong Tong pag — a deep fried parcel stuffed with crispy vegetables, served with a spicy sweet and sour sauce and a salad in Thai style. The prices for the main dishes range from £8 to £14, with a good variety, including soups, noodles, salads, curries and fish dishes. As a vegetarian, it is always good to see there was lots of little V marks on the menu. I would even risk saying it was one of the best tofus that I have tried! Good service and generous portions, it’s a winner! Its definitely a nice place to spend the night with a group of friends or to warm up for a party.

We’re big fans of this place. The food is always excellent and the small, cosy restaurant makes for a really pleasant place to eat. Since our little boy was born and nights out are at a premium we have more often ordered food and collected it, rather than eaten in. We usually go for a few starters to share — the soft shell crab is good, as are the fishcakes — and then dig in to a main course. I can never seem to get past the Green Thai Curry so I always order that. When we have visited with friends they have always been impressed, so I suppose that means the rest of the menu is as good as my choice. As the place is so small it’s advisable to book, and if you are in a group of more than 6 it might be a bit tricky for them to fit you in at the time you want. The couple that own it have opened a larger establishment over in Harborne that might be more suitable for larger groups. I’d still recommend checking out the original, though.

Good food but packed in like sardines it was very hard to enjoy. Booked a table for 4 and ended up sitting by the door at a table more suited to three, where we were jostled and pushed as people came and went. We were so squashed I was glad I was with close friends, just a bit too intimate for my liking. The foos is not as delicate or sophisticated as Suko Thai in Shirley or the Thai Kingdom in Stratford but it as good as many others I have tried.

Sabai Sabai is a cosy little Thai restaurant, located just off the main drag in Moseley Village. It’s very popular, especially with couples, meaning that you should book in advance if you want to get a table, and even then you’re likely to have to wait a short while. The menu features a wide range of traditional Thai dishes, heavy on the seafood but with enough variety that vegetarians and meat lovers are given plenty to choose from. If I had to change one thing, it would be to give more vegetarian choice that didn’t necessarily include tofu. The food is tasty, filling and won’t break the bank. Unfortunately, the tables are crammed in so tightly, you’ll more often than not find yourself shoulder-to-shoulder with a complete stranger or even two. The food isn’t cheap and the place is always full, so I can’t imagine they need to keep stuffing their diners in like sardines in order to stay in business. The whole experience would be exponentially improved if they got rid of a few tables and let their customers breathe. I’d recommend you visit on one of the quieter nights of the week, and you’ll have a good night. Really only viable for couples and smaller groups, but well worth the trip if you’re a Thai lover!

Yet another fanatstic restaurant situated on woodbridge road. Great thai food reasonably priced with a good vegetarian alternative. service is great and the candlelit ambience really sets the mood for those intimate dinner dates. With cool tunes playing in the background it really does knock alot of other thai restaurants in birmingham out the park. Its quite small with only about 20 covers when full, but i like that. oh and they do take it as well, awesome!
