A new venue for Birmingham, alongside the Airport and NEC. There a few discount outlet shops and a plethora of eateries throughout, with good views of the lake. I liked the idea that this place has a hotel and Spa, if you do want to make a weekend of it. I visited today with family to go for a meal at Robata Bar & Grill, and the service was rubbish, although the food was ok, and not too bad. We had to remind several waiters many times for drinks, our starters, the sauces!, if we could order more drinks after not being asked upto an hour later. As they ran out of ingredients to make our 1st round of cocktails and we were told they had to fetch them from the cellar, we were given them for free! A nice touch. You get the impression, they just don’t have experienced staff, or, staff who know anything about the food they’re serving. Tgi Friday is also on the water front, so we went into there for decent cocktails after, and were surprised. Quick and friendly service, and a motorbike in view when you walk in, this place was heaving. Try the ‘Purple rain’ cocktail, just yum. We finished these off with sundaes, the cookies & cream 1 is very nice. Although a nice place overall, with good facilities, they need to put a lot more effort into service! Soon.

Resorts World is a giant complex at the NEC next to the man made lake there. The central idea behind it is the casino but by the time you’ve visited everything else you’ve probably forgotten about that. There’s a hotel, restaurants, bars, cinema and shops too! This place is definitely designed to be visited by cars, but we got the train and trudged for ten minutes through the NEC complex. Resorts World itself is a bit of a maze and we found ourselves wandering along rows of outlet stores. Lots of them seem to be new to Birmingham which is good, but I wouldn’t personally make the trip just for the shops. We enjoyed our visit to the cinema, which was clean and comfortable– it’s basically just your normal cineworld though. After, we went to the World Bar for a drink. I think it shows how the world has moved on that basically a hotel bar now has such an interesting range of beers. You’d be very happy popping in here before a show. We ate at Robarta bar and grill. It was very sophisticated in here. Service was friendly and smooth. The starters were brilliant and I’d recommend looking for the ‘school of wok’ symbol as these are the best dishes. My duck main wasn’t crispy as stated on the menu which was a shame. Really enjoyed everything else about my meal. I was surprised how much I enjoyed my trip to Resorts World. I’ll definitely eat and drink there again, especially if I’m off to a show at the LG arena.

There is no nightlife. We went there on the opening weekend it said it has 18 bars and restaurants to choose from. I found one bar and 3 restaurants all of which were empty but had 45mins –1hr 30mins waiting time. Some of these bars are not even open yet. They are still being fitted out and aren’t even actually open yet as they advertise. Not coming back for ‘nightlife’ here ever again. Signposting not good, this place is super hard to get to and once there you need to ask for walking directions from the car park stewards. The car park situation is so vague do I pay £12 at the car park or the resorts world charges? The Cinema great and is the reason this gets even one star. But its a shame because i wouldn’t travel out this far to go to the cinema and pay stupid car park prices just for it. The shops are supposed to be outlet but not as cheap as other outlets I’ve been to.(Comparing to Nike and gap outlets in west Bromwich, Birmingham) #resortsworldbirmingham was full of promises but never lived up to the hype for me! So disappointed The High line bar and grill i haven’t experienced worst service ever as this place ever, the food was ok. The staff are beyond rude. In summary been there done it and won’t rush to go back. I think most locals will feel the same. Unless service improves drastically and quickly high line will be renamed«end of the line» within months!
