Midlands Darts Centre

The sign says ‘This Is Darts’, and while it’s not the best example of the Queen’s English, I get the gist of what they sell in here.
This is the biggest range of darts I have ever seen in my life. Sports shops usually have a small section dedicated to the pub sports of ‘arrows’, and larger ones have more impressive displays, but this is something else. There is half a wall dedicated to flights alone. Football team logos, union jacks, psychedelic, country flags, abstract; every conceivable design is here. Then there are the darts themselves. The shop owner assures me that they have every brand that is manufactured available in this shop. I’m not going to doubt him. They have simple darts, signature models, and luxury darts, all ranging from £7 to £89. ‘A set of darts for every pocket’, the owner proudly states in his West Country accent.
‘What’s the shop called again?’, I joke, as I leave. But the jokes on me. ‘It’s called Midlands Darts Centre’ he replies, ‘i just can’t be bothered to change the sign’. Now that’s the country attitude I know and love…

If I’m perfectly honest, I really think this is an absolutely crazy concept for a shop. By only limiting themselves to selling such a niche area, I was actually convinced that the store wouldn’t stay open for long. However, I’ve been proven wrong, even though there still never seems to be many customers inside.
Whenever I’ve been in or walked past, there’s only ever one customer throwing a dart at the board on the wall. But the selection of darts, boards and other related products seems very in depth. I’m not really a dart fan, so I’m not that sure how expensive they should be, or what the best makes are; All I know is that there’s a great variety sold within this strangely specific retailer.
I don’t think the location of the store is ideal, because dart fans who don’t live in east Birmingham are probably unaware of the shop. I think the store would do better more central to the city, or on the south side where there are more independent shops to support the niche.
