I’ve always been puzzled about why people spend a lot of money on jewellery that looks the same as everyone else’s. I’ve got nothing against the idea of investing in nice jewellery, but where’s the uniqueness? Enter stage left Magnus and Bella. This couple have been producing bespoke handmade pieces from their home in Birmingham for the last five years. Though schooled in traditional jewellery making techniques, their approach is definitely forward looking, with a pride in intimate detail. Working in a variety of mediums such as gold, silver and resin, their work also incorporates found items such as buttons and stamps to give each item an individual feel. Their work isn’t cheap but that’s kind of the point — these are handmade items with a great deal of care and attention going into each one. If you’re looking for a piece of highly individual jewellery this is a great place to start. They also take commissions so if you’re looking for something really special, why not push the boat out and go for something you’ve had some input into?
