Chouchoute Chocolaterie

I love this independent chocolate shop! Based in the Great Western Arcade this little shop is quite charming. My parents are quite fussy about their chocolate and yet they absolutely love the gifts I buy them from here. The staff are so enthusiastic about their product so you can learn quite a lot and they really do cater for your tastes!
You can pick and choose from the display in the main central counter, or buy from one of the many pre-​selected/​gift-​wrapped boxes (which are really pretty). I have bought a large selection box for my parents for £27.50, but you can easily spend £50 on one of the really large Easter eggs. I have been told though by the recipients, that it is all well worth the money!
I would recommend this place for buying presents when you are bored of the chains, or fancy treating someone. Good for Easter/​Fathers Day etc!

Located at 40 Great Western Arcade, they offer the most pleasurable and desirable chocolates, that I have tried.
You get a very personal service in here, and they are a nice independent retailer. Although a little pricey, the occasional treat is worth it, and you get what you pay for.
The have a good variety on display and even have gift presents for your loved ones for you to buy. The shelves aren’t too over stocked, but they do have a large variety of sweets, chocolates and candy for you to choose from. Try the fruit centre’s — they wont disappoint.
I will visit again and this place has my seal of approval.

Chouchoute should consider bottling the scent of their shop. I’d certainly buy it. This independent chocolate shop has it all — knowledgeable staff, tempting displays and tantalising flavours.
It isn’t exactly cheap but, boy, this is good chocolate. The chocolate-​coated candied orange peel makes a chewy and tangy treat, whilst the kirsch soaked cherries dipped in dark chocolate have been known to move me to tears of joy (I notice that a fellow Unilocaler has mentioned these too, that shows how amazingly good they are!).
I first visited the shop after being told by a doctor to avoid dairy, this meant that much mainstream chocolate was a no go. The sales assistant spent a good ten minutes talking me though the dairy free options and even gave me a list of «safe» brands to look into. I left with a bag full of dark chocolates, which barely lasted the walk to the train station!

The customer service in Chouchoute is second to none. Pierre and his wife run the store and they really are so friendly and offer a completely tailored service.
Pierre obviously cares about his customers and will give you a guided tour of all the wonderful and artfully created chocolates on display, even letting you sample a few on the house. This is no Thorntons! Each piece is a work of art, from dark chocolate dipped cherries and orange peel to Champagne truffles; everything is beautifully made and packaged making a gift from Chouchoute a real treat. I always come here to buy presents for family and have a chat with Pierre. Everyone should sample some chocolates from this shop — you’ll never settle for Roses again, that’s for sure! I couldn’t recommend Chouchoute highly enough. One of Birmingham’s true gems.

If you love chocolate or are looking for something special. This is the pace to go. Great selection of unusual chocolates, beautifully packaged in lots of different sizes! Have bought these as presents on numerous occasions and the person has always been delighted (I always treat myself too!!).

Like walking into a gigantic box of chocolates, the incredible aroma of high quality, hand-​crafted chocolate washes over you from the moment you approach the open door of Chouchoute. An independent store owned by Pierre Soualah, Chouchoute (French for ‘pampered’) offers a mouth-​watering array of pralines, truffles and ganaches in dark and milk varieties with numerous fillings and coatings.
The chocolates can be bought in gift boxes in many different sizes, tailored to suit any gift-​giving occasion. The store also offers corporate packages and gives you the option of alcohol-​free flavours if required.
As you might expect from a store so dedicated to the art of chocolate, the whole place drips with a sense of luxurious indulgence. If you are, or you know someone who is a chocolate lover, forget Thornton’s and stump up that little bit extra for some of the best chocolate you are ever going to taste. The owner truly cares about the presentation and the balance of flavours, and this dedication is evident in the end result. True chocolate heaven!

I’ve never actually visited this place, but I’ve been given chocolates as a gift from here several times and ordered them online, so I think I can give a fair judgement on their produce.
In my humble opinion, they are pretty much the closest you can get to Neuhaus standard in this country. They have a range of interesting flavours, if you like that sort of thing, but if not, their classic chocolate combinations are always excellent and well worth the price. Beautiful packaging too.

The range and quality of the products is absolutely outstanding.
The staff are really helpful and very generous when you order things specially or in a bag of separate different products.
The prices are obviously more than usual chocolate shops because it is a small shop and they deserve the extra money anway!

Amazing sight and smell when you walk in to this chocolate ’boutique’. Good service, and worth the money for that ‘something a little bit special’…

The guy that owns this place is French and is very good and passionate at making and selling chocolate. This is probably the best place to buy chocolate for a loved one. He will give you a few free samples and will really help you chose the best option depending on the occassion. The packing he uses is lovely too. The boxes come in different sizes so expect to pay according to the size and type of chocolate you are buying. The only downside to his products is that they tend to sell out quickly so its better for you place and order before hand.
