True to its name Bohemia is a modern bohemian restaurant in the Selly Oak area which quite simply oozes cool. The emphasis here is on relaxation and cool and on top of it all modern British cuisine which excites the palette. I enjoy the fact that Bohemia appears to never stand still, it is constantly striving to achieve perfection. As such, the menu is updated by the head chef on a monthly basis so there is always something novel for even the most loyal of customers to sink their teeth into. The herb sausages here are amongst the tastiest bangers in brum and that is just the tip of the ice berg in terms of their exciting menu. Bohemia is a place which certainly enhances the chic feel of student Selly Oak and it’s not to be missed.

Like anyone here I would avoid to review this place for one simple reason: it’s such a wonderful hidden place to share with so many people. OK, a bit selfish of me so c’mon visit Bohemia as soon as you have the chance! Some reasons for it: This very modern restaurant tucked away of the Bristol Road buzzing is what we would classify of a fine bistro. I have been there with a couple of friends for a meal and I couldn’t be happier! I am a salmon lover so it’s always delightful when you find some creative meals with salmon than are not just about sushi! Well, Bohemia Café Bistro has a delicious smoked salmon from heaven, indeed! This is the kind of restaurant that you have to go for the pudding! The presentation is so perfect that it’s impossible to resist it. So, take a note: Bohemia Pudding Club is a dessert to dream about it. Right portion, chocolate of gods. As they have wonderful food deals that 3 courses and a glass of wine for £ 21.50, I would not miss this chance of visiting such a sophisticated Bistro.

A bit of a secret, this place, so don’t tell anyone. Tucked away amongst some fairly nondescript shops just off the Bristol Road, this is a bit of a haven of good food and cool surroundings. As the name suggests, this isn’t a greasy spoon by any stretch of the imagination — instead it serves simple, well-cooked pasta dishes, a few more exotic items, and a nice range of snacks. Prices are more than reasonable and the staff are always friendly. It’s not such a huge place, so probably better for couples, or small groups, rather than an office party, although they can and will hire the entire venue if you like. They also have fairly regular live music. My next door neighbour plays here once or twice a month, and he’s a pretty good guitar player! If you head along here for an early evening meal you’re in for a treat. And the best thing about the place is that it not many people seem to know about it… yet

This café is truly a hidden gem in Selly Oak. It is a trendy and modern place and I really like it here. It is cosy and rather cool inside and I always feel quite relaxed when I come in here. I have visited for a drink and for various meals before and the food is just fantastic. They serve lunch and dinner and I have been in for both. It is not a standard café as the meals are quite hearty and they serve dishes such as, a soup of the day, pasta dishes and stir-fry; I think it is a little more sophisticated. I have always found the staff very welcoming and quite entertaining. One of the things I found out about Bohemia recently is that you can hire it out for your own events and they also host their own events, such as jazz nights! It is a great place and worth a visit if you get the chance.

You’d be forgiven for having never heard of Bohemia, what with it being tucked away on the quieter side of Selly Oak. Despite its unassuming exterior and poor location, the little bistro is cosy, quiet and boasts a varied menu that can always accomodate; encompassing full dining experiences right the way down to a quick afternoon coffee. The veggie options are similarly varied, and I most recently enjoyed Bohemia’s take on the ploughman’s lunch: The ranges of cheeses and chutneys were tasty and interesting without being too strong or try-hard, the bread was fresh and particularly nice and my accompanying berry smoothie was refreshing to say the least. Although I haven’t ever dined in the evening I would certainly be keen to take someone with me next time. A real gem in the takeaway haven that is Selly Oak, for sure.

This place is off the beaten student track, so it is never overridden or busy with hungover students. The menu is nice and contemporary — I had some delicious pesto when I went and everyone there was satisfied with their meal.

small intimate licensed bistro restaurant in selly oak. Evening menu changes monthly; good choice of 2 or 3 courses. We used special offer from their website ’ 3 courses for the price of 2’ Lots of events taking place: music, comedy, charity nights etc. Food is excellent all freshly cooked and staff really friendly and amenable. Highly recommended.

Bohemia is a café by day and restaurant by night. It’s a lovely little place but can easily be missed as it’s hidden away in a block of shops. Have only eaten here at lunch time but from the look of the evening menu will be looking to return to sample the delights. The menu is changed on a monthly basis and i believe they hold jazz, charity, comedy nights etc Relaxed atmosphere and the staff are friendly and attentive. You do have to wait for your food but it’s worth it, as it’s freshly cooked and well presented. Would recommend giving it a try.

Bohemia is a really cosy café/restaurant tucked away in a row of quite anonymous little shops on Oak Tree Lane but is well worth seeking out. I am delighted that we have this establishment a short walk away. I’ve been both during the day for coffee and a few times now in the evening for a meal. The food is modern European and reasonably priced. I always find the food very nice — but more than the food I just like the ambience of the restaurant, the friendly owner who also is head waiter(ie works hard all night!) and the feel of it being a really good local restaurant. Most local restaurants in Birmingham neighbourhoods these days tend to be Indian or Chinese unless you live in hyper trendy Moseley, so it’s nice to have somewhere different to go to. During the day, the café feels really chilled out and you can sit and read the paper over a coffee without being hassled.
