You used to always find me in Apres about 8 years ago when it hadnt been open that long & I d be enjoying jugs of cocktails after work or delicious pizzas /breakfast! It always was a great place to watch the football — with a fab atmosphere. I d never really had a night out there until this week when my friend held her 30th. If you re looking for a room to hire for a party — it’s great space. Good size bar, smoking balcony, small dance floor, nice staff and friendly bouncers. I was concerned about drinks costs but I found a double gin and tonic was£5 and a bottle of prosecco £20 so reasonable and good quality! The seating was also a good mix of booths and bar stools. I d definitely be tempted to pop back for an after work drink & hopefully the pizzas are still as yummy!

A great place for a race! Kind hosts of the Motorsport In Pubs events during F1 races, this pub has everything you need for a meetup of friendly f1 fans to watch the grands prix in. Sky Sports(So every F1 race can be shown live whether its on the BBC or not-we tend to stick to sky) 2 floors so even if the dreaded football is on the races are still shown. Wide selection of beers and food to satisfy mid-race munchies, though due to the time of day of F1 races we’re more into the Teas and Coffees Clean toilets with fancy-schmancy Dyson air-blades for rapid hand-drying during inevitable mid-race pit stops. Free wifi for live tweeting and mid-race moaning on twitter ;) Join us at the Apres Summer Row if you’re an F1 fan or want to be converted. More details at
(Venue is also great for non-f1 things too, honest!)

‘Only after dark’ eightys night upstairs monthly! Ok I really can’t decide what I think about this place. It’ s situated on Summer Row so fairly central and on a nice road filled with other bars. I have been here to watch the football, have food and drinks for ‘works’ do’s’ and been upstairs to the monthly 80’s night. Last night I went to see Midge Ure play upstairs, which was brilliant-the sound quality was very good for such a small venue and despite it being sold out everyone had a good view of the stage and could get to the bar easily. Downstairs everyone was packed in to watch the Boxing, which was a bit of a wierd contrast. It’s a fairly smart venue, though I don’t think there is a dress code. Drinks –well, a pint of Turborg cost £3.75 so not cheap, though they do have offers on cocktails. I’ve only ever had the nachos on the food menu but the rest of the menu(fairly standard burgers etc) looks reasonable. It can get pretty busy in there! To be honest I don’t think it would be the first palce I would choose to go although there is nothing really wrong with it.

A good go-to bar if you want to venture away from Broad Street or head to Summer Row after a hard day’s work over at the Jewellery Quarter, Apres offers a vibe somewhere between relatively chilled daytime affair to the more expected after-dark ‘wine bar’ experience. I’ve only visited after 8pm a couple of times(with Mechu or Jam House being the final destination) as it gets pretty busy and is quite small, although I definitely appreciate its pleasures more so in the day. A great choice for a Saturday afternoon, especially if you’re with sports-loving lads who can keep an eye on the latest footy or F1 on the big screen tellys, Apres brands itself on the brain after one visit thanks to the bright red interior which makes me think of a slicker version of a diner. The food is decent but really just a means to accompany the drinking you’ll be getting done. Enjoy a nice tall glass of lager, a four-pint pitcher or a generic but tasty cocktail depending on your preference. Personally, I couldn’t stay put here all night but this is a great addition to any day-long Birmingham bar crawl or a first stop on the way.

Love at first sight is a phrase I’m sure many of us have come across. And this is exactly how I felt when visiting après for the first time. You can be guaranteed a great night out and believe me it is worth going to. The food is excellent, the staff are excellent and everything about après is excellent. Every time I have been here, the service has been the same = brilliant. Because all the Formula One races are shown live here, this is the one place I have visited to watch the F1. There has always been a good turnout at après when the races are being shown and the atmosphere is terrific. Visit to find out more and you can also have a look at the menus on the website. Families are welcome here and this is a lovely place to bring the family to. Prices are on the steep side in my view but its well worth the money coming here and I have absolutely no doubts you will have a great time.

Working on the same road as Summer Row has a number of advantages, one of which being Apres bar. Since the Cube has been developed in the Mailbox, there are limited bars left in the city that you can sit outside and enjoy the sun. Luckily for Apres, they are a complete sun trap! With seating available outside the front of the bar, you can enjoy a nice cold drink whilst topping up your tan. To celebrate their 10th Anniversary, Apres have a special 2 for £10 food offer which is available Monday — Friday, 11.30am — 3pm. I recommend you try the spicy bean burger, I’m not a vegetarian but the generous helping of fries and coleslaw makes this a perfect lunch time meal. The service is always quick and I always seem to have my food within 10 minutes. After work, there’s always a good professional crowd who come down to enjoy the weeks special drinks offer which runs at happy hour 3pm-8pm. My favourite have to be the cocktail pitchers but the guys prefer the continental beer selection.

Apres whilst a fairly big chain across the country, it is the only one in Brum. A good midway point between the city centre and the Jewellery Quarter it is a cheap place to eat and drink. With a more modern, clean, chilled feel over chain pubs it is really great for groups. They often have deals on multiple drinks as well as 2−4−1 offers. It’s a slightly quieter spot that’s close to the city centre so you can avoid some of the bustle of other places for just a short walk. I’ve eaten here a couple of times before being diagnosed a coeliac and can honestly say you get a pretty big portion on their sausage baguette deals. They are also super tasty and easy on the wallet as well. I’ve always had good service at this Apres and they have a small outdoor decking bit too.

I visited this place with some friends for early evening drinks. I’m afraid I wasn’t that impressed. Décor-wise, there’s a lot of red plastic(furniture, walls, lamps, table accessories you name it); I was half expecting Ronald McDonald to saunter past. The service is no great shakes either. The girl who served us was devoid of expression and was in no hurry whatsover; definitely in need of a rocket up the a***. Not particularly bright either my request for a ‘black tea’ was met with confusion. That’s tea without milk, luv(she got it in the end). None of the bartenders were particularly friendly which is always a big no-no in my book(this was early evening after all). This, together with the burger-bar décor, means I’m in no rush to go back.

As Apres branches go, this is in a very cool location, close to Bluu Bar and Mechu. The offering is the same as any other Apres you’d go to, but the fact that the quality of food and price structure remains the same means this will always be a well populated spot for eating and drinking and enjoying the atmosphere before moving onto its more individual, but more expensive neighbours. Also a great spot for lunch do its convenient location and speedy service.
