akbrickwork are a local general building, bricklaying & construction company based in Bedfordshire. We also serve Hertfordshire and areas in Cambridgeshire. Specialising in domestic projects, we are able to work with clients to realise the best way forward with their project, from conception to completion.

Established originally in 1989 by Nick Ames and Adam Kahl, we have over 60 collective years experience. From working on large multi-​dwelling sites to one off houses, home extensions, renovations & refurbishment, garden walls, patios and fire places. We pride ourselves on using our experience to complete your project to the highest standards with the up most care and attention.

History

Established in 1989.

When Adam & Nick started working together, we worked for local builders such as Wrights & Daniels. Following a number of years bricklaying together, we decided to set up the partnership akbrickwork.

From working on small domestic home improvement projects, we soon established ourselves as one of the major bricklaying contractors in the area. Working for major house builders such as Persimmon Homes, Westbury and Bellway, at our peak we had over 30 bricklayers working across multiple sites.

The economic downturn wasn’t kind, but using our experience & expertise, we have diversified to provide bespoke house extension, home improvement & brickwork building works direct to domestic customers in and around Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire.

Business Owner

I have been a partner of akbrickwork with Nick Ames since 1989. We previously worked together as bricklayers for local builders.

I trained at Mander College, Bedford as a bricklayer and have been working in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and North London all my life.
