Recently I broke my baby, my baby being my beautiful DSLR and although a little dubious to whether Jessops could help, I brought it in anyway to see what could be done. The staff were brilliant. The guy was sensitive to my obviously crazy upset at the damage to an inanimate object and discussed with me my options for repair. He took it and sent it off, quoting a turnaround of 3 weeks. Within a week it was back, fixed, and they even put a new eye-bit(technical term obviously) on for free, and it was much cheaper than getting a replacement. The guys in here know their stuff and clearly have a passion for what they do and I’ll be back in a heartbeat.

Went to buy a Lumix GF2 twin lens kit today. I was told they only had one left in stock. I asked and was was told that this was not the demo model. As I was about to pay, my wife noticed that the demo model was missing from the shelf, the screen was dirty and the battery was fully charged. The Jessops staff had tried to sneak me a demo model at full price after I’d specifically asked if it was a demo model. Disgusting business practice. Avoid like the plague.

I was very impressed by the excellent and friendly service in this store; the young woman who served me(on the 15th November) couldn’t have been more helpful. She transferred all the photos I’d taken onto a disc so that I could reuse my camera card, to save me the expense of buying a second card, saving me at least £50! I was in the store for half an hour and noticed that all other members of staff seemed equally helpful to other customers. They really know about the products on sale as well. It’s a well-stocked large store too and all cameras and accessories are displayed in an eye-catching way. Definitely the place to go for photographers in the area!

I was in here a while back looking to see if I could buy some extra camera memory. It was for a particularly antiquated camera so I’d already drawn a blank at Dixons and a couple of other smaller computer stores. One of them helpfully recommended Jessop’s as a kind’ve last resort so I trudged over here without much hope of a solution. The assistant was really helpful and he was able to tell me in no uncertain terms that this type of memory storage wasn’t made any more and my best bet would be to try and get some 2nd hand on eBay. Not exactly the best out come but at least I got a bit of resolution. Pros: Very helpful staff. Cons: Smallish shop.

I’ve been on the lookout for a decent camera for the last few months. Working as a journalist it’s always worth adding a string to the old bow and I thought the advantage of being able to take my own shots for a feature would be beneficial. I had my eye on a Nikon D3000, which I’ve been ogling online for the last month or so. As I wandered through the doors of Jessops I noticed the camera, taunting me from the Nikon display. Its 11-point-focus eyes baiting me, buy me, you know you want it… I ended up speaking to a very helpful member of staff who showed me around the basic setup and layout of the camera, settings etc. I took a few shots and all looked very good. I ended up getting a quote for the camera and an 18 – 55 lens. £349 was the total which is pretty much on par with a lot of big retailers online. Fantastically helpful and warm service, a great selection of Nikon, Olympus, Sony and Pentax including lenses and also a great place to get your pictures developed.

This shop is a good size and they have a wide range of cameras and accesories. Ther jan sale alwaysworth a look otherwise can be a bit over priced. Also do a pretty good rate on getting photos printed if you have a large number to get done.

I was looking for a new camera recently and thought I should buy locally, in case of any warranty problems. Jessops was my first stop, yes they did have a large display of cameras, lots of different sizes and prices. I picked the one I wanted and then, liking a bit of haggling, mentioned the word ‘discount’ oh boy did I get a look. But in their defence, if you’re not into haggling, they do have very good stock.
