Nowhere else does as full a range of vitamins and minerals as Holland & Barrett — it’s the ultimate health shop. You’ll find everything you want here. The penny sales they occasionally run are good — buy an item and get a second for 1p — basically 2 for the price of 1. They also sell health foods, toiletries and cosmetics — great stuff that you’ll not find in other chemists. Splendid staff in Holland & Barrett too, I always find them exceptional, really helpful and willing to offer advice or information and help you find items in the shop. Probably the best customer service around. Plus if you’re vegetarian or vegan you’ll find multivitamins and oil capsules here specially formulated for veggies.

The Holland and Barrett range is quite well commercially established and this shop is quite modern and clean on the eye, well laid out and stocked. Staff are always on hand to help if you need advice or just can’t find the item you are looking for. Some of the range on sale is a bit pseudoscience trending esp regarding the slimming end of things and the bodybuilding supplement range is a bit pricey but it is a good shop from my aspect on natural foods ie nuts, bran and flax seeds and while not bargin priced it is stil good value.

Holland and Barrett is a Health Store. Preying on the stupidity of people who think that little herbal pills will cure everything and make you skinny, No. Exercising and saying No when asked if you want Super size is what needs to be done. They do have some saving grace though and sell those protein shakes that guys drink to buff up at the gym-I’ll never diss anything which helps our fellow men to look oh so hot! However guys, whats wrong with chicken, and egg or some tuna? The staff are pretty helpful in here and I must say this is the only place I could find Lavender oil when I was über Pregnant and could no longer sleep. So at least there’s that… though it was like a tenner or something!

Some girls are mad into this kinda health food stuff, I’ve never really bought into it. I just try to eat healthy and don’t think I really need any supplements, it’s just more crap to spend money on innit? Holland & Barrett are down south too and really seem to have the market covered for health food stuff. They sell loads of supplements, vitamins, nutritional nutty bars(which I actually quite like), bags of wholesome nuts and dried fruits and tones of other stuff. The staff do seem quite well informed and won’t try and hawk you any zany stuff. They also have a newsletter which is really informative.

There is a Holland and Barrett in Bangor and it used to be opposite the shop I worked in and there was a pretty fit girl who worked in there who I used to call into chat to. She completely loved herslef which kinda made me fancy her more, but anyway, that is just a weird way of letting you know that there are obviously lots of these shops about and they do well because they really, really know what they’re doing. Its health food and supplements without being too preachy, pushy or intimidating. There is maybe a downside as they’re so good they maybe push independent shops who do the same thing out of business but that is just what happens I guess. There are always deals on and the staff are always well read up and can advise you on what you need. Thumbs Up.

Anyone got a rabbit? Because the majority of this stuff will keep little Thumper happy during the winter months. H & B is a «health store»… ugh even writing it makes me feel a tad unwell. Shelves and rows and displays of pills and healthy bars and powdery stuff that means when you take it and go to the gym your nipples look really big… Or something… See the problem I have is that there are other ways to be healthy rather than spending a fortune in here. For instance, if you DON’T EATASMUCH, I’m relatively sure you are going to lose weight. If you want to build up some muscle, YOULIFTHEAVYTHINGSREPEATEDLY. If you want to build up more muscle, then you are an arrogant person and the only person that will like you will be in the mirror. So here is the deal. If you find vomit coming out of your mouth and your head is proper sore, GOTO A DOCTORS! No amount of oils and blooming candles will stop vomit coming from your face. What really annoyed me is that they have little oils and you look up your symptoms i.e. You are stressed, buy this oil for five pounds. You are depressed? Try this oil and a candle for a fiver. Do you know why doctors don’t give you oils when you go in for a check up? Because they don’t work. If you want to start every morning burning oils and taking 1000 tablet be my guest. But I’d try the hospital first.

H & B is a real treat for me being a total hypochondriac and all. I’d never been to the Castle Court one before as I rarely get up onto the upper level where it’s situated. On the hunt for some rather specific vitamins I had it on good authority that they would be stocking them in here. The dude behind the counter was welcoming and soon I was fully immersed in their huge range of vitamins, minerals, supplements and all things healthy. There seemed to be deals on quite a lot of the stuff so that was good as I find H & B can be quite pricey with some products. It was easy to find what I was after and when I went to pay the cashier helpfully tried to find a ‘half price’ voucher in one of the health magazines at the till. Unfortunately it didn’t cover my purchase but it was nice he was prepared to make the effort. Pros: Good selection and well trained staff, they know their stuff. Cons: It’s a bit lonely stuck up there at the top.
