Equine livery yard in Harrogate, next to RHS Harlow Carr Gardens. Facilities include a Cross Country Course, Floodlit All-​Weather Arena and Horse Walker. Full, Part & DIY livery for horses available with livery yard access from 7am to 9pm. 24 hour on site supervision & all year turnout. Large on-​site tack shop called Beaver Horse Shop open 7 days a week.

Benefit of on-​site tack shop is a range of horse care products & riding equipment close to hand. Good stock of Shavings, Aubiose, Bedwell & Bedmax for bedding. Other advantages of on-​site shop include a Rug Wash & Repair Service. Saddle Fitting by arrangement.

History

Established in 1988.

Windmill Farm shop opened in 1988 selling venison for Round Green Deer Farm in Barnsley. Deer were visible from Otley Road, a sight still remembered in Beckwithshaw. Stables were added over the years, bringing the total number to 35.

In 1990 our shop was renamed Beaver’s or Beaver Horse Shop. It has greatly expanded since to serve both liveries & the general public. Over the years our Cross Country Riding Course has been used by British Eventing & for other competitions. Our XC course was recently improved with a second water jump!

In 2012 «Livery at Beaver Horse Shop» was renamed «A Harrogate Livery». Our new livery name reflects our central location, both to Harrogate centre & our position in Harrogate’s fastest growing area, Beckwith. Harrogate’s hi-​tech cental police station opened in May 2012, directly opposite Harlow Carr Gardens, in Beckwith. Running along our eastern boundary a public foothpath marks the boundary between these award-​winning gardens & A Harrogate Livery.

Manager

As livery yard manager, Julie has been with us over 20 years. She relies on a mix of both full & part-​time staff. Together an efficient & friendly service to livery owners is maintained. Her hobbies include dog training & amateur photographer.
