Good coffee. Not cheap, but that’s what you expect. Wish the juices wernt so pricey in there.

Went here on a Saturday afternoon with my family. The premises is right in the middle of Basildon town square and if you aren’t aware is a wind trap even on the warmest summers day. The premises has a few tables and chairs outside for the smokers of which you would have to be very brave to use during the winter months. The premises is made almost entirely of glass so isn’t like the normally snug appearances of most costas and it loses it’s appeal. There is wheelchair/pushchair access but manoeuverability is restricted due to the size. Coffee is the same high quality in all costas with various muffins and panini’s. During my visit there were six staff on duty and all seemed to be congregating behind the till area, most not doing a great deal. This was exagerated by the fact that several of the now empty tables still had used cups and plates on them ready for clearing. Several customers during my visit had to clear their own tables whilst the staff appeared oblivious to this. Given 2* as I love costa coffee, without this then it would get none.

I’ve only been here once. My friend and I sat outside on a lovely sunny day. I had a sandwich and a coffee. The food was good. Even though it was more than I would usually pay it was a treat and we both enjoyed it. The inside of the shop is nice, but that wasn’t that made us go in. It was the fact that we could sit outside, chat and watch the world go by. I would go back on a nice day, if we ever get one again that is.
