As other reviewers have said, this is a place that inspires nothing but affection and nostalgia in me. My nan lives just round the corner and these are the playing fields that my Dad played in as a boy. When I was younger I had literally thousands of hours here — playing football, riding bikes and generally messing around. Its easy to get to and there are plenty of access points in, with lots and lots of parking around. There are 7 full size pitches, 2 junior pitches, dressing rooms and show facilities. This is the site of lots of football matches on the weekend and I have had some of the best footballing moments of my life on these pitches. Well worth playing football here if the weather is brilliant, way cheaper than the indoor pitches in Bangor.

Valentine Playing fields was the venue for my competitive football debut and this may be why I feel such affection for these playing fields. To many people there is nothing that special about«Valentines» but for me these playing fields deserved to be loved. How many other towns can boast having 7 full size football pitches, 2 junior pitches, dressing rooms with shower facilities 5 minutes from the town centre. Okay maybe a few but«Valentines» is always a hive of activity from sunrise on Saturday mornings it hosts everything from Boys Brigade matches to amateur league football. This makes it special. The pitches are generally well kept but the grounds man has a tendency to over do it with the sand, so expect grass burns if you are playing at «Valentines». The changing facilities are pretty safe and are locked while matches are underway. This means you can focus on scoring goals rather than worrying about your wallet being pinched. The facilities are open September to May but in the summer months they will take the posts down and attempt to maintain the pitches. But do not worry the pitches are not closed off completely but you may need to bring your own jumpers for goal posts.
