Christian Book Centre

I was rather hopeful of this little bookshop, despite it’s dark and brooding exterior. Not judging a book, and all that, I decided to take a look and see if I could find anything of interest.
Apparently this is where I went dramatically wrong. From the moment I and my sister entered the shop to the minuted we left, we were watched. Constantly. Now, I would understand if we looked like a louts, or if we were up to no good, but the both of us were genuinely having a look at the books, having a chat and feeling very uncomfortable that the lady behind the till seemed fixated on us. I nearly had a good mind to start looking at her too, but felt I’d better not. The thing that really annoyed me was that despite there being another customer in the shop, it was us two who were of the most interest.
Since we weren’t looking for anything in particular, but ‘just looking’, I thought I’d have a look at some of the prices of the books. They weren’t exactly cheap, so any book I did have my eye on was put back (exactly where it came from Mrs Sales Lady), until I could bear the staring no longer. Quickly looking around the rest of the shop, and realising that a) there wasn’t a whole lot to it, and b) cards and music were the only things we were really missing out on, we decided to leave.
I’ve been to far nicer, cheaper and more inviting Christian bookshops, so I’ll be shopping at those in future.
