History

Established in 2011.

Benjamin Mathers Photography started producing fine art prints and documentary photography in 2011, I have featured in a number of exhibitions both solely and with others throughout 2012 – 2014.

During this time I started to photograph weddings and family portraits around Norwich, Norfolk and Suffolk which now forms the backbone of the business.

I have won awards both in the UK and internationally in the International Photography Competition.

Hello,

I’m Ben, a photographer based in Norfolk but working anywhere from Suffolk to Sussex to Iceland, specialising in weddings and what I like to think of as environmental portraits. What does that mean? well I don’t mess about: I like light, I like nature, I like homes, I like walls, I like children, I like animals and just generally, I suppose, I like working with reality, not creating fantasy…

So what is it about photography that makes me tick? Well its not just about making an image, it’s about portraying an emotion, showing the depth of a relationship, understanding why. I love clean images, I love smooth contours, but I also love rough surfaces and I love decay. I suppose I love juxtapositions. I’m not into cheesy posing or things that will make me cringe 5 years from now. It’s all about the moment for me: documenting you; telling a story.
