Island Wilson Excursions

After another fantastic time with Island Wilson Excursions I thought it best to update my previous positive reviews. Captain Wilson is still the best and Deja Blue still the most comfortable, quick ride. They just keep getting better and a trip with them never gets old. Go for it.

Despite poor weather, we had a fantastic day on the water. Captain Wilson was clearly very knowledgeable about the area and sea life. He got us to a couple of great spots for snorkeling and had a little raft with a window in the bottom for my four year old to use while we were snorkeling. We saw an eagle ray, sting ray, turtles, etc.

What an amazing day! This is the second time, and certainly not the last, that my fiancé and I have chartered a day with Captain Wilson. We first chartered a day back in October 2014 and my fiancé proposed while we were out on the boat. We returned this May 2015 and had another amazing time and have decided to return in October to again charter with Captain Wilson and have him marry us! Now about the actual stuff you care about. Captain Wilson is incredibly knowledgable able the geography and history of the islands, what you will see in the water and will even show you pictures of all the marine life you will see before you get in the water. He took us to some of the most beautiful reefs where we saw several kinds of coral, sea fans, and plenty of fish. On our first trip last October we swam with turtles send a 3 foot barracuda came to check us out. You must book a day with Captain Wilson!

What a fantastic first day of vacation in St. Thomas aboard the Déjà Blue with Capt. Wilson (aka Matthew McConaughey aka young Jeremy Irons). We had a great time at each of our stops, from Christmas Cove to our picnic lunch on the beach to the very special «secret spot». Each location had a specific reason for snorkeling, from some very flamboyant spotted rays, gentle sea turtles and even a couple of sneaky squid to beautiful coral and reefs.
Booking the full day was the right call, providing a chance to see many areas and have conversation about the historical significance along the way. Capt. Wilson stayed in contact over the days leading up to the visit and provided much more helpful information for our visit above and beyond the trip itself.
I highly recommend spending your time aboard the Déjà blue, Capt. Wilson will take great care of you !!

My husband and I traveled to St Thomas seeking a mix of relaxation and adventure. In particular, we wanted a getaway without any fuss. I read a few reviews of Island Wilson Excursions and was impressed by how many people stated how happy they were with their experience. It was no different for us. Since we stayed at the Ritz-​Carlton, we had a short cab ride to Red Hook’s American Yacht Harbor to meet Captain Wilson aboard Deja Blue.
Captain Wilson listened to our needs and took us places that matched our interests. He accommodated our every need, and we especially appreciated how well he knew the islands and their inhabitants. He made it extremely easy to navigate both tourism and customs, and we were able to explore a variety of islands in just one day. Most important, we dodged all the crowds and had a special time away from the busy sidewalks and beaches normally seen at vacation spots.
We started out at Buck Island to swim with the green sea turtles, snorkeled in Congo Cay alongside a bird sanctuary, saw pristine aqua blue waters in Jost Van Dyke, BVI while enjoying a drink at Foxy’s, and we ate lunch at the beautiful beachfront restaurant Foxy’s Taboo. We continued to Sandy Spit, White Bay, Smuggler’s Cove, and Mermaid’s Chair. Each place seemed better than the last, and we were in awe of the amazing amounts of seemingly untouched nature. Not only did we enjoy the breathtaking views, but Captain Wilson also took time to capture those special moments on film and shared the photos with us via Picasa.
We would definitely charter adventures aboard Deja Blue again as many more parts of the USVI and BVI remain for us to explore. Island Wilson Excursions was the highlight of our trip!

From the moment we found out Captain Wilson was returning to the Virgin Islands, we knew we would be cruising with him on our next trip back to St. Thomas. The day couldn’t come soon enough and then couldn’t last long enough.
Captain Wilson worked out a great agenda for us, taking us to The Indians for some great snorkelling, Foxy’s Taboo for a great lunch (the waitresses loved him and the other charter boat captains stopped by to say ‘hi’), a quick stop at Sandy Spit, and then some R&R at White Bay (Soggy Dollar Bar).
Captain Wilson was ready to go when we arrived (15 mins early!), had great music for the trip, funny stories, and a laid back attitude. He helped one of the guys in the group learn to snorkel, took some amazing shots underwater, and helped us learn about the fish we saw.
As expected, another awesome day all around. We look forward to sailing with Captain Wilson upon every trip back to St. Thomas.

Captain Wilson Rocks! This was a great experience and definitely a blast. We chartered Captain Wilson’s boat for the day and went snorkeling, toured the Caribbean, ate lunch and of course went to Soggy Dollar Bar. The day was a blast and Captain Wilson definitely made the trip memorable. I can’t say enough good things about the trip and I would definitely recommend him. I can’t wait to go down to St Thomas again next year and do it all over again.

This was by far our favorite day in the Caribbean! Captain Wilson picked us up right in front of our hotel. He was very charismatic, down to earth, and knowledgable of the island’s history. He supplied drinks and snorkel gear. He even took photos of us while under water with his high-​tec camera and then sent me the link to view/​save them. What a fun, unforgettable day! I HIGHLY recommend chartering a boat and doing it with him!

Captain Wilson provided us a fantastic tour of St. John and its surrounding beaches and islands. He is very thoughtful in mapping out the day and very flexible. Setting up the day, payment and scheduling a pick up from port was all very easy. During our 7-​day Caribbean cruise, the day and tour with Captain Wilson was one of our highlights. We enjoyed checking out the local beaches, coves and snorkeling in pristine waters. Captain Wilson really goes out of his way to make sure everyone is having a good time and that is greatly appreciated. I would definitely book him again and would recommend spending a day with him rather than a cruise-​offered shore excursions.
