Specialties

OffTheGrid BBQ is a husband & wife owned & operated «all you can eat» FoodTruck permanently parked at one of the US Virgin Islands most beautiful scenic outlooks.

We re-opened in feb 2013 after a disastrous fire burnt our first food truck concept to the ground. We had never smoked meats before, but found the technique fitting after our loss. We get up in the morning to keep getting better, & to provide YOU with everything we know about BBQ up to NOW :)

We offer all of our meats by the pound ($ 10/lb) or the guests favorite AllYouCanEat option for $ 15. «AYCE» comes with your choice of 2 sides

Meats include: Pulled Pork, Hand Sliced to order Brisket, Spicy Sausage, Hand Cut to order St Louis Pork Ribs, Chicken Thighs and Chicken Wings

Sides include: Grilled Sweet Potatoes, Grilled Onion Rings, Spicy Cole Slaw, Rice, Beans, and what we call Caribbean Caviar– corn, black beans, and roasted peppers marinated in an island jerk vinaigrette. Sides are $ 3 sold separately

On sundays, we offer our «PorkBellyBrunch». we brine the belly for 24hrs, & smoke it with pecan wood for 8hrs. Hand sliced to order of course

On the Sunday of every full moon (once a month), we brine & smoke a 120lb+ WholeHog! By far our most successful weekend event! On this day, the hog is offered by the pound (any parts) or in addition to our all you can eat buffet!

–We have beer, wine, soda, water

–we take CC

–we sell a wide range of retail

–We have an excellent & easy to book catering department

History

Established in 2012.

OffTheGrid got off the ground like a herd of turtles!

Husband and wife team Greg and Whitney Engelhardt left Las Vegas in 2008 to persue the fine dining restaurant business in the US Virgin Islands. Chef Greg, earning Michelin stars in Vegas, was anxious to shake up cuisine in the Caribbean.

Together, the provided St Thomas with its first 4 diamond award winning restaurant in over 5yrs, The Old Stone Farmhouse. It set the island on fire!

Passionate entrepreneurs, they set out on their own to invest everything in their dreams. OffTheGRiD was born! It was to be the islands first gourmet food truck and pop up catering. On opening day, the day after Christmas, the brand new built food truck burnt to the ground due to a faulty generator instal.

The team winged it to Miami and spent the last few thousand dollars investing in a smoker and a new little food truck. The couple built the newest truck with their own hands– & started smoking BBQ as their new brand. The rest is history!

Meet the Business Owner

Whitney E.

Business Owner

Whitney holds a degree from U of Nevada, Las Vegas. She excelled in the education field specializing in after-school science programs promoting the NoChildLeftBehindAct. Then she met a Chef:

Coming from a family in the restaurant business, it was only time before lightning would strike & business would absorb her. With her Michelin Star award winning Chef boyfriend, they sold everything & moved to the island of St Thomas– site unseen.

The husband and wife team business partnered with successful local restauranteurs, becoming established and learning the challenges of living (& business) in the middle of nowhere. 2.5yrs where spent operating what became the islands highest rated & most talked about restaurant– The Old Stone Farmhouse. Whitney designed the guests experience to include, amongst other things– hand personalized menus with every guests name printed, & personal kitchen tours to meet Chef. It was a home run!

The couple got married, and yes– sold all to go «OffTheGRiD»
