Aspendos Amfi Tiyatro

Aspendos was pretty cool, its one of the largest free standing theaters, there are some that are larger, but they are built into the side of the mountain side. The theater at Aspendos is very well preserved, considering it is rumored to be built in 1000 BC! That in itself is amazing to me that a structure of this magnitude is still standing at all, let alone preserved so well that every so often they still hold special events there as you can see from other peoples pics. Guess its true what they say, they don’t build em like they used to!
It’s was really nice to see but there wasn’t too much more that just the theater itself. There are people there dressed as gladiators to sell photos which was pretty cool if you’re the type that gets caught up in the moment or just want a fun pic to remember that part your trip.
I had visited other theaters on my trip, so i guess i didn’t find this one too special, just more well preserved than some others. My advice… If you’ve seen a large ancient theater, i think you could skip this one. If you’ve only seen ruins but not a theater then make it a point to see this one.

Un must à né pas manquer si vous êtes près d’Antalya. Nôtre hôtel étant à Serik, nous en étions encore plus près.
Ce magnifique théâtre romain de 15 000 Places érigé du temps de Marc Aurèle par l’architecte Zénon est encore pratiquement intact et accueil le festival d’opéra d’Antalya chaque année.
La conservation du lieu doit beaucoup aux turcs qui s’en servirent comme caravansérail après l’époque romaine et aussi à Atatürk qui y fit faire d’importantes restaurations.
Phénoménale acoustique, et lieu magique. Autour du théâtre lui-​même les ruines d’un ancien aqueduc et de la ville romaine qui se situait sur l’oppidum proche. Une ballade très agréable en sortant du théâtre sur la gauche avec les anémones en fleur la semaine dernière…
La légende raconte que le roi local hésitait à marier sa fille avec Zénon l’architecte du théâtre ou avec l’architecte de l’aqueduc, tout aussi important pour la population. Un jour que le roi se trouvait avec sa fille dans la galerie haute du théâtre ils aperçurent Zénon sur la scèné qui faisait les cent pas en marmonnant et grâce à l’acoustique ils purent l’entendre dire combien il aimait la princesse et souhaitait l’épouser. Tous 2 furent conquis et le mariage eut lieu…
La magie est toujours là!

Das Amphitheater in Aspendos ist eines der am bestens erhaltenen der Welt. Es bietet bis zu 20 000 Menschen Platz. In den letzten Jahren fanden dort Auftritte großer Künster, wie z.B. Pavarotti, statt. Auch eine Wetten dass Sendung wurde von dort aus übertragen.
Ich habe vor etwa 10 Jahren eine tolle Aida Aufführung dort erleben dürfen. Die Steine waren am Abend noch angenehm warm von der Sonne des Tages und die Eintrittskarten haben etwa 17 DM gekostet. Das hat sich wirklich gelohnt!
Es sei noch darauf hingewiesen, dass die Stufen zumindest für ältere Menschen sicher nicht ganz einfach zu nehmen sind. Ansonsten ist dies aber ein toller Platz mit einer genialen Atmosphäre.
