While it is definitely possible to have a great restaurant cum club, unfortunately Vior does not make the cut. To start off with, service is not attentive, and is rather on the slow side. We had bruschetta as an appetizer, which while excellent was left waiting around for some time, as it was cold by the time we received it, making the bread more hard and chewy, than crisp. The burgers are excellent, there is a wide variety of fixings — I personally enjoyed the truffle and greyerzer cheese burger. However, unfortunately one of out burgers was over-cooked(I wasn’t asked how I wanted it cooked so I expected medium or medium rare, however I got well done), meanwhile the other burger was again not medium rare, but rare. Coming to desserts, their apple-almond cake was excellent — however the vanilla ice cream paired with it was not of the best quality and was definitely thawed once before. Additionally it was implied that the ice cream was a component of the dessert, however it was billed separately. In conclusion, go for the burgers, if you can ignore the sometimes poor service. There are definitely places where you can get equal quality or better burgers for the price charged or even cheaper in Zürich.

It’s hamburger time! It is my first time to savour the self proclaimed best burger in Zurich! :) oh well, it is fine, lovely burger, bun is not soggy at all! Chips is just perfectly cooked… medium cooked meat to perfection. Ordered the famous Jack Daniel burger but less satisfying due to the lack of JD sauce! Would be perfect if the meat is soaking in the sauce! Yumm! Good stuff, good ambience, waitress very friendly! Price around 30 – 35 for a burger

VIOR: stylischer Club und Restaurant mitten in Zürich. Verschiedene Partyreihen wie: Secret; Vive; Platinum; Shameless; Touché; Feeling; Latenight Show; Billionaires Club; Shit Show; Rockit; Gold; Latin Affairs. Try it.

Before entering the place, I saw that it advertised to have the best burgers in town, with premium Angus beef burgers. I must say, it got me curious. As I entered the place, the clientele seemed a bit chic, so not your usual hipster/local place. It’s really well situated in the middle of Zurich, easily accessible by foot from the Main train station. I really liked the restaurant décor, and specially their sofas, which were really comfy: D I ordered the classical Angus beef burger to really test if this place has, as advertised, the best burgers in tow. My burger came with some french fries and some ketchup on the side. I started with the fries, and oh my dayum, they were really good: salty, crisp, light, and not greasy. After this I attacked the burger. From the outside, the only thing I would change is the amount of salad: I can’t believe I’m saying this but there was too much salad, almost masking the taste of the meat. I usually like my meat on the medium-rare side since overcooked beef looses its tenderness and becomes chewy. Unfortunately, although you could taste very good meat quality, it was almost burn on the outside and rare on the inside, a sign that it was cooked on very high heat. All in all, I would say it was a really good burger(maybe not the best in town though). Service was very good, fast and polite and the price, although a bit high(I paid 27CHF for my burger), can be justified given quality/location. As I was with other fellow Unilocalers on their Burger tour, I had a very good time(as usual: D).

Burger Tour 11: Vior!

One of the best burgers I’ve had in Zürich. I ordered the Mexican burger with a side of «hausgemachte» potatoes. The potatoes were not very exciting, but the burger was very impressive. The burger was composed of a big, well-tasting, perfectly cooked beef patty, topped with tomatoes, salad, cucumbers, onions, etc., and to top it off, a layer of nacho/tortilla chips melted together with a delicious cheese, probably from the cheddar family. The burger was pretty large, a good sized meal, althoug pretty much impossible to eat without knife and fork. Only disappointment was the bun, which was of the standard, store-bought, sesam-topped kind, that falls apart pretty easily, but given it’s contents, that is easily forgiven.

I came here for a private event that cost CHF25 to get in. Was it worth it? I’m not sure. There was a live band, but I didn’t like the music. I didn’t really like the DJ that played that night, too. It was mostly older stuff like rock music, which I’m not really that fond of. But my girlfriends wanted to hang out and dance, and I hadn’t seen them in a while, so it was cool to catch up with them. The venue was also really lovely, with nice, plush seating and a cool dome over the dance floor. Unfortunately, the roof leaked a bit from the rain, and the bar didn’t offer Panache. I had to buy a bottle of regular beer just to get through the night. I also ended up watching some fashion show on tv because I was kind of bored. LOL.

Am 7.3.2013 zum ersten Mal im Vior. Hatte darüber im nur gutes gelesen. Also gleich zum Business-Lunch abgemacht.

Went here with the bf for a date using our groupon which included two burgers and beers or glasses of wine. Décor was cool, clearly a club at night accompanied by the giant disco ball hanging from the ceiling. However, it was hands down the worst burger I have ever had. I ordered the regular burger with cheddar cheese well done. When it arrived it was giant so I used my knife to cut it in half to make it easier to ear with my hands(no matter how long I live in Switzerland I will never eat my burger with a knife in fork!) After cutting open the burger there were parts of the meat that were not only pink, but raw. as in. not cooked. I showed the waitress and they remade my burger, cooking it well done this time, but the burger meat was of terrible quality. I have never experienced that poor quality before, anywhere, ever. Full of fat and falling apart and just not good. Had we not had the groupon, I don’t know what I would have done. I didn’t even eat half of it. And our bill would have been 74chf. The only two positives were the fries and the server, she was very nice. Would never ever go back. I shutter just thinking about it.

Vior is definitely a step up from Sugar Lounge; but, I’m not sold on it. The service was, however, GREAT. We had our huge ex-pat group there and they were very accommodating. I do wish they would make a serious effort to deal with the menu, it didn’t look appetizing. Drinks were, typical here, expensive; but, overall, the atmosphere makes it a good choice.

So, unfortunatley, like most places in Zürich, it was just good. No wow-factor though. It’s a new establishment, but there weren’t any execution problems. It worked how it was supposed to. So… A chic burger and sushi lounge, ha?. WTF?! Burgers and sushi, you ask? Yeah… As I’ve often bemoaned, it’s the norm in Switzerland to mix cuisines. They just can’t specialize. If they could it might be great instead of just good. So I ordered a burger — a Jack Daniels burger: BBQ sauce, carmelized onions and sun-dried tomatoes. Not novel by any means, but decent. The meat was smaller in circumference than the bun, which was like a store-bought sesame seed variety. The soft carmelized onions make little sense with BBQ sauce since the BBQ sauce is already sweet, rich and slimy. Onion rings would have been the more sensible option. And the sun-dried tomatoes were whole — the size of my heel, so the whole thing slid out in one bite. I also didn’t think the sun-dried tomatoes necessarily belonged there. Some blue cheese would have rocked the party. Oh well. It was good. The menu didn’t mention any sides so I assumed that the 32CHF price tag was a la carte. Then the waiter asked if I would like salad, fries or cole slaw. Another fail. That should be on the menu! So I thought about it and picked the slaw. Also good. For advertising a wide selection of international beers, I was disheartened to learn that they only had two beers on tap and one of them Feldschlösschen. Boooo!!! So I perused the beer list. There were only about five run of the mill others. At seeing my surprise the server offered the wine list where more beers were listed. Confusing. The place becomes a club at night and the humungous disco ball hanging under the glass dome in the middle of the large space gives it away. Seating is tight and consists of dark leather upholstered booths. A glamorous bar in the middle and a fumoir on the opposite side. Service was friendly and attentive, not to mention quick(shocker!). For the price, I don’t need to go back. Helvti diner does a better burger for half the price and they also have yellow beer on tap ;-(.

Sugar Lounge has closed, and it is now the ultra chic Vior Club! Although I felt it still had more of a lounge vibe than a club atmosphere, but we were here early so perhaps the scene changes as the night progresses. Our group of 5 arrived here on a Friday around 10pm and had no problems getting a table and seats on their elegant leather couches. As with any good lounge, the lighting is dim and the music is kept at a volume where you can still talk to friends without shouting. However, the music selection here was comprised of R&B and hip hop JAMS from the late 90s and early 2000s! While I tried to keep focus on the conversation… I couldn’t help but dance! SO good! The beer selection is great which surprised me for such a trendy lounge. I think this could be due to the fact that Vior is also a restaurant during the day. The wine and cocktails list is extensive also. My only complaint is that they were pricey, averaging 15CHF per drink… Overall, it’s a good place to start the night with friends or with a date you’d like to cozy up to!
