Mr. Pickwick Pub

I love it! :-) it is like a piece of London in Zug! Good food and friendly staff! Beer little expensive!

Came in for a quick drink and bite to eat. They’ve got a wide variety of beers, but it’s expensive — a pint of Guinness sets you back 9+ CHF. Had a Cheeseburger + fries for 20+ CHF, which is OK if the quality matches the price. but it didn’t come close. 2 stars, but only for the nice bar lady.

The truth is anywhere in Switzerland a good Guinness or Murphys at a pub will cost you about 9 to 10 chf. Get used to it. This is a good place to speak English. It you looking for more people to speak English with this is the best place in town. I dont eat pub food.

If you’re looking for adequate pub food with overpriced drinks, then this is the place for you!
But seriously, it seems the only reason that this place is so over-​crowded night after night is due to its proximity to the rail station, its abundance of television screens and, yes, its plethora of draft beer choices.
If you get drunk enough and need to order something to eat, just stay away from the grilled chicken sandwich — of the five people in my group who ordered it, four of them felt ill the next morning. But if you like those odds and you’re feeling lucky…

Who doesn’t know Mr. Pickwick? It’s The english pub in town. Always lively and bursting with the growing english speaking community in Zug. They broadcast all mayor sport events and there is outside sitting.
The food is so-​so pub style fare: burgers, fries, fish & chips, garlic bread (about the only vegetarian option in the menu), onion rings and so on, with a featured daily special.
Their strenght is what it seems to be the largest selection of beer in town, both bottled and draft though no surprises here: Carlsberg, good old Guinness, London Pride, Beck’s… the usual suspects). Since I rather drink craft beers I ordered a couple of simple cocktails, but the bartenders didn’t know how to make either of them. So I had my always reliable Jack straight and called it a night.

Allgemein ziemlich teuer und oft sehr voll. dafür läuft oft so richtig was und es macht spass, einen abend im piwi zu verbringen.

Das Pickwick Pub in Zug ist eine Institution. Für Neuankömmlinge englischer Muttersprache ist es ein Stück Heimat.
Für Englischsprechende ist der regelmässige Besuch ein Muss. Entgegen der Pubtradition sieht man in Zug heute auch viele Damen.
Ruhige Pubs gibts ja nur, wenn diese nicht «in» sind. Das Pickwick ist in und im Innern ist der Lärmpegel so hoch, wie er eben in einem guten Pub ist. Die Organisation ist gut und ich habe noch nie betrunkenen oder wirklich lärmende Gäste gesehen.
Das Team kreiiert «The World of Mr. Pickwick» mit Games, Rugby Broadcasting, usw. Die Lokalsprache ist englisch. Das Pickwick könnte statt in Zug in London stehen.
Ins Pickwick gehn wir, wenn wir noch nicht müde sind und müde werden wollen oder wenn wir mittags ein Sandwich, ein Snack oder einen Salat essen möchten und im Freien gerade ein Platz frei ist. Auch die Plätze im Freien sind sehr schön und sehr zentral gelegen.
Das Pickwick in Zug ist so originell, dass man es sich als Englischsprachige reglemässig und als Schweizer ab und zu genehmigen sollte.

Typisches Irish Pub und einer der wenigen Orte in Zug, wo ab und zu was läuft.
Typisch Pickwick ist das Bier ziemlich teuer. Es gibt jedoch, ebenfalls typisch, eine schöné Auswahl.
Burgers sind ok.
Bedienung freundlich und britisch :)

Wow, da ist immer viel los im English Pub Mr. Pickwicks im ansonsten manchmal etwas verträumten Zug. Nahe am Zuger See gelegen und sehr zentral direkt neben dem Bahnhof gelegen ist das Pub leicht zu erreichen. Es gibt eine große Auswahl an internationalen Biersorten, die Englischen werden natürlich frisch gezapft. Nebenbei gibt es noch etliche Cidresorten und Spezialbiere und natürlich das typische Pub-​Essen: Große Burger mit Pommes Frites oder Salat.
In einem solchen Flair treffen sich vor allem internationale Gäste, aber auch sonst ist einiges los und Mr Pickwick ist definitiv einer der zentralen Hotspots in Zug für Abend– und Nachtleben.
