cool atmosphere as it is very pub-​ish! even the employees there are english-​native speakers.
the only downside are the prices. a pint (5cl) for over CHF 9.- is quite high (in london you get if for around CHF 4 – 5)

Ein klassisches Pub mit gemütlichem Ambiente. Es werden viele Sportveranstaltungen übertragen.
Einen Abzug gibt es für die hohen Preise (9.20 für ein Pint).

British pub in the centre of Basel. Hang out place for the expats, especially for sporting events and quiz night. Surprisingly young local crowd (mostly male) later on in the evenings at the weekend. Typical pub food menu. Very friendly staff and a place you can actually get a decent pint in town!

I LOVE the London ale that this superb pub had on tap,
and the cottage pie, a tasty treat, and compliment to that.
The bar tenders were fun, and international too.
They speak several languages, so they can speak with you!
I heard this place gets crazy after the fussball games.
But I still had a relaxed evening, with a pint on Pitwick‘s lane!
(i.e., They have seating indoors and in front of the restaurant,
but you must order inside if it‘s food or drink you want.)

Ex-​pat bar but also more so as not just nationals from English-​speaking countries come here. An eclectic mix of customers makes for a lively and loud atmosphere.
Karaōke & quizzes just like in a UK pub along with St. Andrew’s Day, Burns Night etc. celebrations. The whisky selection looked a bit weak but that may only have been in the bar nearest the street. The beer & spirit selection is otherwise pretty run of the mill but ample.

Das ‘Pickwick Pub’ in der Steinenvorstadt in Basel ist ein englisches Pub. Hier läuft immer irgend ein Sportevent, ob das nun ein Rugby-​Länderspiel, das Formel-​1-​Qualifying oder ein englisches 3.-Liga-SPiel ist, ist sekundär. Die Stimmung hier ist gut, und das Pub ist meistens voll, vor allem wenn interessante Premier-​League-​Paarungen auf dem Programm stehen. Nebenbei kann man auch kleinere Snacks verspeisen, welche recht lecker sind. INsgesamt geht man hier vor allem hin, um gemeinsam mit Freunden zu einem Bier Sport zu schauen.

Das Mr. Pickwick Pub ist wohl das älteste Pub in Basel. Früher hiess das mal Warteck Pub, wie mir mehrmals aus nostalgischen Erzählungen der Generation 50plus berichtet wurde. Heute ist das Pickwick ein typisch englisches Pub mit dem entsprechenden Bierangebot. Ein frischgezapftes Pint hat seinen Preis: 9 Franken (6 Euronen).
Das Pickwicks ist für mich vor allem der Ort in Basel um Premier League Fussball zu schauen. Eine treue Stammkundschaft von gebürtigen Engländern bringt zu den Spielen ihrer Lieblingsteams gehörig Stimmung in die Bude. Wenn zum Beispiel Liverpool gegen Manchester United spielt, lohnt es sich schon früher hinzugehen, sonst sind die guten Plätze weg. Stimmung ist aber allemal prächtig, natürlich auch auf den Stehplätzen.
Wenn Fussball vorbei ist, trink ich mein Bier aber lieber woanders. Piwis wird an den Wochenendabenden auch immer ganz voll und ein DJ legt auf. Publikum ist für meinen Geschmack dann aber doch ein wenig prall, und Bier gibts anderswo viel günstiger.
Fazit: zum Fussball top, ansonsten naja.
