There’s a reason this place is always busy! We made a reservation for lunch, which seemed necessary given how packed it was. Service started off a little slow — I think it took us 45 minutes to get our appetizers, but everything we ate was excellent. They have an English version of the food menu, which is obviously seafood heavy. Even so, there were 3 vegetarian dishes on the menu plus a couple meat options, so something for everyone. The herring assortment as a starter is a must-have for anyone who likes herring or is the least bit curious about it… you get 3 or 5 different preparations of it, so a great way to sample a number of different flavors. As an entrée, my boy had lightly salted cod which came with some kind of incredibly buttery sauce that was delicious. As a vegetarian, I was really impressed at the thoughtfulness put into these dishes — they were definitely not after-thoughts. The goat’s cheese starter was impressively complex — a little sweet, a little peppery, a little toasty. And the main I got was mashed potatoes with fresh dill sauce, fresh peas, string beans, and roasted tomatoes. It was very lovely. The cracker assortment at the beginning is tasty — vegetarians beware of the butter that has fish roe in it.(It would have been nice if the waiter had brought plain butter once he realized I was vegetarian, but this prevented me fro eating too many crackers before our food arrived.) The atmosphere was elegant, but the people next to us were in sweat pants and over-sized t-shirts so apparently there’s no dress code. The wine list is extensive.

This place was awesome. The atmosphere was really good, and so was the food. I really enjoyed the herring sampler, as well as the seafood appetizer which had mussels, lobster, crab, peel and eat shrimp. For my entrée i had a butter fried perch and pickled white asparagus. The meal was really really good.

Nice location for the most part, nice oysters from France. Did not get to have the local oysters — out of season. Drinks were nice. Good main dishes too. But wow expensive. Friendly waitstaff. Decent service.

Dropped in here for lunch today and was seated promptly. The place was pretty packed considering it was Friday around 1 pm. We ordered skagen toast and crab bisque for apps and I had the poached cod with horseradish and bearnaise sauce on the side. My friend had the fried herring that came with a side of potatoes and lingonberries. Skagen toast was pretty filling and was definitely a generous portion. My poached cod seemed a bit overcooked. I would’ve preferred it to be a little more tender and delicate. I like it when I put my fork into it and it just gently falls apart. Although I love bearnaise sauce I think it just made the meal slightly more heavy and hearty. The fried herring was wayyy too fried for my comfort! It looked like deep fried toast. My friend didn’t mind it but if it was my order I probably would not be too happy. It didn’t really have much flavor to it. Overall, the meal left me pretty full but it was nothing extraordinary.

Visit no.1 Yes I know this is one of the most popular restos in Stockholm, so loads of reviews and photos already. I have been coming here off & on since I first went to Stockholm, so 1989 I guess… It’s a great buzzy place; we used to sit upstairs in a little library area and remember seeing Bjorn Borg eating there often! For the first time we were downstairs, crowded, noisy, lots of coming & going Staff very attentive & polite. We ate Toast Skagen, delicious, followed by fried Baltic herring with mash potatoes for me, & for my companion, the Rimmad lax with boiled potatoes. My herring were not too big, crispy yet with plenty of meat. Quite delicate; very tasty. The salmon looked good. Not sure what others had A glass of La Motte, a Sauvignon Blanc from Franschoek; pleasant Then a couple of double espressos to finish. 870 sek before tip A great evening! Always good food and good value A couple of photos to come for Visit no. 2 report below Visit no.2 Again a friendly welcome and a nice table downstairs. We had a glass of La Motte and the house Cote de Rhone… the first was deemed too oaky and the second… hmm, not that good… but we were happy enough to nibble the bread and wait for our starters A ceviche and a goats cheese salad… well yummy or what… and of course after all that food we are going to struggle with the mains… confit of duck, a sea of lentils in a mustard sauce, mash potato and, if that wasn’t rich enough, an amazing deep sauce. There was so much meat on the duck too… slow eats to get through it all… no way there was room for dessert! Two glasses of a very nice red, Quinta do Vallado, Douro A top meal again here… and great service from our waitress… not cheap at 1,239 sek And now some photos…

Note to self — get the skagen(shrimp piled on toast) next time I’m here. Luckily I was able to steal a bite off my dinner-mates. This place lives and breathes seafood — but there are non-seafood items if you insist. The portions are huge so I don’t know how everyone manages a starter, a main, and a dessert — but the food is good so I don’t blame them. Be warned — the complimentary crunchy flat breads and the roe cream served with it are delicious. If you don’t watch yourself, you will fill up on this and not be able to enjoy the even more wonderful meal! This place can be rather pricey… but again, this is Stockholm. Lastly, watch out for the bathroom sink — it’s got a open bottom and you’ll most likely get your feet wet by accident. Unless you’re smarter than I was…

Incrowd place on Stureplan in Stockholm, where to be seen and watch the glamor people. Pretty ok food, especially sea food. You go there to have fun and for the atmosphere. The service can be improved. But, in general a fun place!

Sturehof serves uncomplicated, fresh and classically prepared seafood dishes. Unilocaler photos show how simple the dishes are. It’s crowded the few times I passed by and you quickly realize Sturehof is one of Stockholm’s staples. We found Sturehof because of local recommendation and Unilocal. What was special about Stufhof? It’s a spot to enjoy a beer, an acquavit, a Kir Royale and seafood. Yes the seafood is amazing, fresh. Service is super attentive and our waitperson, friendly and very helpful about how to dine like the in-the-knows in Stockholm. For openers, I had the lobster soup. The lobster soup was simple with a large piece of lobster sitting on top of a large butter browned scallop. The soup tasted seasoned well and really delicious, and was lovin’ every spoonful. It was so good I was tempted to have another. Resisted. Then the pièce de resistance: Poached Norwegian cod, prawns, poached egg, fresh horseradish, browned butter Hollandaise. There was something beautifully poetic about this dish, the nicest piece of fresh cod with freshly grated horseradish, nicely briny local prawns(Scandinavian prawns are 2die4). Tease these ingredients with an exquisitely seasoned browned butter Hollandaise and I was in heaven. A nice glass of Riesling recommended by our waiter, added a that touch of crisp dew slightly sweet to bring the entire dish together. Impressed. This plate is one of Sturehof’s signature dishes, so memorable; I can still taste it months later. With 2 stunner dishes, I craved a simple summer dessert. Ordered the Swedish strawberries, elderberry mousse, cream & a moscato to chase the sugars down. The strawberries were amazingly delicious, nicely tart and ripe but not as tart as American strawberries. The honey from the elderberry and moscato was killer w/strawberries. And this dish was the ending to this dinner that set it right for me. Loved it. Coming back. Visits: 1 Tip: The mussels were ordered almost at every other table. Didn’t get them because the serving looked huge. I saw quite a few diners dunking great Swedish bread into the pot. Sit outside in summer. Sturehof has good tables for dining inside also. It’s a people watching place, diners are friendly, some chatty. Oddly we met Angelenos dining next to us.

Had one night in Stockholm and reservation at Sturehof. Arrived half hour early but were seated right away. Started with the herring sampler(prepared 5 different ways). Main course was salmon char for me and fired perch for my date. Both the appetizer and mains were excellent Service was exceptional as well. We were never rushed. A bit pricey but definitely worth it.

What could be better than people-watching on a sunny Stockholm afternoon while eating a perfect dinner at Sturehof? We managed to get a shady table outside the restaurant. My wife chose the nackad strömming with potato puré, while I took fried cod. Both were excellent and, what I appreciate, the food always arrives hot on warmed plates! We chose a Pinot Grigio to drink, which went beautifully! As usual, the service was friendly and attentive. A great afternoon!

We were here today and was a bit early for our reserve time but the host for the outside area was kind enough to give us a table while having a champagne outside. Then she also suggested if we would like to seat close to the wall before our meal comes so won’t feel the wind that much while having dinner. She was right we were much comfortable closer to the wall and we had a fantastic time especially having an awesome services by the host and servers. I had the lobster soup and fried turbot while my husband had oysters and Canadian lobster. It was one of the highlight of our time in Stockholm and would definitely come back to Sturehof again.

I had lunch here and I was really impressed. When you arrive they serve a large variety of crispy breads, yum. I started with the lobster soup which was delicious(maybe then best I’ve ever had). I then had the shrimp salad with avocado, eggs, tomatoes and cucumber. It was so good… and they didn’t spare on the shrimp. Service was excellent. I’d love to come back here for dinner sometime too.

Firstly, this is a high four stars, the wifey and I had a very good experience. We arrived an hour early for our reservation and spent it sitting at the bar, where we ordered appetizers. Their selection of sill and strömming(herring, essentially) is pretty awesome and the selection of snaps(more or less traditionally flavored shots of aquavit) very impressive, including a few they make themselves. Very good crisp breads to go with it. If I wrote a review for that part alone, a rather easy five stars. The actual dining experience was also very good, just not as good. We both have fish(seafood is obviously their main thing) and were happy with what we got. The wine selection is a bit weird: a fine selection but much of the variety comes from keeping tons of vintages and varietals from a few wine makers. The Chablis we settled for was very good. Service was fine but not stellar. Very mixed company at the tables around us: several diners like us, but also people appearing to be out for a bar round and being somewhat noisy. Perhaps an effect of our late-hour reservation. One of the reasons this is not a five-star review: the ladies room was unexpectedly bad, for example, out of toilet paper. A clear area of potential improvement. Anyway, a place certainly worth visiting if you stay in the area, especially the bar.

Very Nice Restaurant in Stockholm to taste Fish & Seafoods. The decoration is smart and elegant, and the service is really appreciable which creates a friendly atmosphere. It is quite«cliché» but I loved their cracker-breads with the creamy butter! I tasted the Cod with an hollandaise sauce, which was seasoned just right. This was really fresh and delicate ! The wine/alcohol was definitively too expensive(as everywhere in Sweden, unless you want beer)

Smoked salmon and potatoes and dill cream potatoes were great! The Sav blanc wine was crisp and good too. Service was great! Sat near the entrance. Definitely get a reservation for Friday night! Spent around 500 Kronas for the meal. The bar was extremely crowded. We waited right outside the bar for 10 minutes for our table. Great place to people watch for sure!

Best restaurant in Stockholm. I love this place and wish I could eat every meal here. Nice upscale surrounding with high-end clientele and food. Everyone I recommend to this restaurant loves it: it is a remarkably consistently good meal. Never had a bad dish here and the presentation is always excellent. I love the cracker-breads they bring before the meal! The rimmad lax(smoked salmon) is like high-grade sushi and is perfect. The best Swedish food one can find.

— Sturehof is centralyl located in Stockholm — outdoor bar was packed(probably it is always very crowded in the evening, in particular during summer and on weekends) — it is nice to stay and to enjoy watching other guests and people strolling by — however, absolutely overpriced and some strange guests, too — we did not try the restaurant but only had some cocktails in the outdoor bar!

3.5 stars Oh Lord. Be prepared to spend serious money here. If you’re wondering where to flaunt that humenah humenah dress of yours in this neighborhood, the bar is the place to be. While the bar is a scene, the dining room was a mix of families and girls night out on town. I chose this restaurant for dinner because it was two blocks away from our hotel which was convenient for stumbling back to after a night out.(YEAH!) The food is seasoned just right and since we were in Sweden, we concentrated mostly on seafood: delicate, fresh and obviously, handled with care. We spent $ 70/person(alcohol was paid for separately at the bar) CRAZY. Their wine list is extensive, but I got a house Rose and it was obscenely overpriced.(I mean, alcohol in Scandinavia is already expensive to start with, unless you want a watered down beer) The toast skagen is a must: fresh shrimp tossed in mayo and dill with lumpfish roe. YUM! My main consisted of steamed turbot and mussels in a garlic white wine broth which was excellent. My friend liked her roasted whole perch with fried cauliflowers. Our waitress informed her that this is served with the head attached and we were like: bring it! ;) Don’t skip the bread basket: the butter is delightfully creamy and the assortment of Tunnbröd will keep your hands busy. The exceptional service from Madeline earns this place a solid 3.5 stars.

We went to this Restaurant last Monday. It was a recommended by a Swedish guy. We start with three different Hering and Oysters. As a main menue we had Lobster soup, Fish soup, Fried Hering and Rainbow trout. Everything was excellent, really nothing to complain. Service was also extraordinary good. The price is in the upper segment, but from my point of view reasonable. Next time I’m in Stockholm I will be back.
