great set up and deco, but the espresso is just ok. come for the posters, comfy sofas and chairs and that motorbike on the window!

We were ignored by the employers and paid for overrated waffles. I think this place is just highly rated by their friends and people who live here or share their politics. Avoid if you want quality and a nice atmosphere. Totally not worth it.

After a day of walking around Södermalm, a friend and I headed to this café after getting the recommendation from a co worker. We were pleased to find the vibe very laid back and fun. Better yet, they had a vegan latte and vegan lies! I chose the apple. It was a little colder than I like, but tasted great.

Cozy place, mostly teenagers hanging out with friends. Prices were very affordable, service was a bit slow but becoming the cozy atmosphere. Wifi which actually worked and was free. Great stop before boarding the Viking Line ferry.

Auch hier sind wir auf der Suche nach Frühstück eher zufällig gelandet. Unser Ziel, das Urban Deli hatte es uns zuvor etwas «versaut», das wir um 11 dort waren, es aber kein Frühstück mehr gab und «Brunch» erst ab 11.30. Etwas unverständlich, aber egal.
Im String haben wir uns fürs Frühstücksbuffet entschieden, welches einfach, aber gut war. Neben den üblichen Verdächtigen, also Wurst, Käse usw gab es auch Pfannkuchen und Eis — ziemlich cool.
Das Café selber war brechend voll und der laut, das uns aber nicht gestört hat.
Laut unserem Reiseführer kann man die Einrichtung, welche bunt zusammengewürfelt war auch käuflich erwerben.

Everyone seems to love Café String. And I wish, oh how I wish, that I did too.
But to be honest, my only good experience here was a latte.
The breakfast buffet is a good deal, as other reviewers have noted. But if you’re a fan of warm breakfast, as I am, then there’s basically nothing. It’s just the same bread and cereal and condiments you could easily have at home.
Every single time I’ve been here it has been absolutely packed — which may be a good sign, it’s very popular — but it causes problems. I have never been able to sit upstairs at all; it’s always full, and extremely loud. Downstairs is much quieter and usually has seats, but who really wants to balance a cup of burning hot coffee and a breakfast plate down those narrow stairs?
The staff always seem rather stressed and tend to just let you do your own thing — they make your coffee and take your money but there’s not really room for customer service here.
I really like the way it looks upstairs, with the mismatched sofas and chairs, and I love the window seating. But despite all that, I just haven’t managed to have a pleasant experience here.
It is one of Södermalm’s most famous and popular cafes, and their pastries are good, so by all means stop by for a coffee and a bun — but good luck finding a place to sit or carrying on a conversation.

Café String represents well the very hipster culture and feeling of Södermalm.
The decoration is vintage with old jukeboxes and different sized tables and chairs. It gets crowded inside especially on weekends at breakfast/​brunch time, so showing up early is a good idea if you want to avoid waiting for a sitting place. It’s loud, vibrant and you stumble upon all kinds of people. Definitely an ideal place to go with friends.
The brunch buffet itself is simple and has the basic breakfast foods: bread, toast, cheese, ham, veggies, cereal, yogurt and of course, the pancakes! Everything is refilled often so nothing is ever missing. It is extremely good value brunch, also because you can fill up your plate or coffee mug as many times as you like (read: as many times as your stomach fits). The pancake overdose is a classic.

Lovely place for lunch in the trendy Södermalm neighborhood. We dropped by because there were so many cafes closed during Easter Monday and this place remained opened. The café has a bit of a hipster atmosphere but remains kid-​friendly which really I think can be said for all of Stockholm (the kid-​friendly part).
The menu consists of both vegetarian and vegan items and every lunch dish accompanied a side salad. During the peak hours the queue to order can get lengthy and there’s a lot of shuffling tables and moving of chairs to accommodate the young (very hip) families that drop by to eat.
Sit at the elevated table/​seats alongside the window for great people watching. For that I’ll say Stockholm is one city that surely don’t disappoint!

Great café in a trendy part of town. It is a big space with lots of couches and great big windows, so great on a summers day. You can get a filter coffee and slice of cake for 40SEK, which is a pretty good deal.

Super crowded on weekends, and the tables are so close together that getting to some places is akin to performing in a Cirque Du Soleil show. Trendy, hipsterish place that’s better on weekdays than weekends.

Extrem günstiger Brunch, extrem alternativ, extrem voll. Trotzdem gehen wir immer wieder dort hin, weil es ein kleines do it yourself Erlebnis ist, man immer was zu schauen hat und die Preise einfach unschlagbar sind!

The atmosphere is great, but I am on a self-​directed eating tour of Swedish biskvi, and strongly recommend avoiding them here. The almond cookie bottom and chocolate coating were good, but the filling – which should be a buttercream – was chocolate frosting. This is interesting at first, as you wonder ‘what is this flavor that I know?’, followed by crushing disappointment as you realize that this is what you get on grocery store cupcakes.
Stick to the coffee and people watching.

This place is great for lunch! 70kr and you get a big chicken salad with bread and a coffee or tea. The bread was really good and the salad was all whole foods — avocado slice, orange slice, rice, lettuce, tomato, chicken… Maybe something else. My friend thought it should have more flavor, like more spices and herbs but then it wouldn’t be 70kr and it is just a plain healthy meal. I was very satisfied and the interior is fun. Lots of tables everywhere to sit and chat and the tables up lining the Window are especially fun. The staff was very nice.
Not only would I come back but I WANT to come back! It’s the best lunch I’ve had in Stockholm. Maybe not for the taste but the combination of amount, price, healthiness, and comfort. I definitely recommend you come here

Petit café-​snack où il fait bon vivre à Stockholm ! Ambiance décontractée dans ce cartier branché-​bobo où vous trouverez la plupart des friperies et le musée de la photographie (à faire absolument quand on aime la photo) !
Les prix sont corrects. J’ai pris une salade dans laquelle j’ai pu ajouter 5 ingrédients au choix ce que je trouve plutôt sympa (un peu dans le meme style que carlotta&co mais version scandinave). C’est très bon sans être extraordinaire !
Les suédois y viennent flanner, bosser ! Un peu comme à starbucks (dans les autres pays) mais dans une ambiance plus calme car il y a moins de monde !
C’est super de pouvoir s’avachir dans des fauteuils après avoir fait en long et en large le musée de la photo ! Je le recommande vivement.

Gemütliches Ambiente und guter Kaffee. Alles in Allem jedoch keine 5 Sterne. Die Sahne ist Sprühsahne und teilweise wirkt die Einrichtung etwas verbaut. WiFi ist ebenfalls mit Passwort vom Schild an der Kasse verfügbar.

Everything it’s cracked up to be. Just run-​down enough to be cool, and certainly very charming. Breakfast buffet is great, but I get burnt coffee without fail. Is the coffee always burnt? It’s almost okay if it is.

Un endroit génial dans le sud de stockholm,
un café qui vend aussi de quoi manger, … mais aussi des meubles. La décoration est faite de meubles qui viennent de récup, on peut acheter un de ces meubles, la pièce est parfaitement organisée, tout est sur élevé autour des fenêtre ce qui donne l’impression d’avoir une terasse. Les sandwiches sont pleins de coup, j’ai pris un string spécial où il ya avait du rosbif, des tomates séchées entre autres. Les boissons typiquement suédoises sont aussi wouahhh et le service est impécable.

Nice shabby chic décor, lovely atmosphere, great staff and good simple brunch. Great value for the quality. Loved the pancakes and hummus. Coffee was also excellent.

¡Mi café preferido en mi último viaje a Estocolmo! Es un sitio encantador y lleno de gente joven, con una decoración de esas eclécticas donde todo parece sacado de un mercadillo vintage pero encajando a la perfección.
Tienen brunch y un montón de platos riquísimos que te preparan al momento. Y unos cafés enooooormes y calentitos, así como una gran variedad de tés. Fuimos a desayunar varios días y las tartas son una delicia. Otros días fuimos a comer y yo me enamoré de una lasaña vegetal que estaba exquisita. Los sándwiches son enormes y también muy buenos. ¡Ah! Y hay que probar las sopas, también una delicia.
Los precios están muy bien, relativamente baratos para ser Estocolmo. Los camareros son muy amables y simpáticos.
¡Imprescindible ir una vez al menos!

Absolutely amazing! For 80kr you get an all you can eat breakfast buffet with coffee and free refills. You won’t find this anywhere else in Sweden. The food included sliced deli meats, cottage cheese, assorted rolls and bread, hard boiled eggs, fruit, cheese, and the delicious build a Swedish pancake with berries and ice cream. The buffet is about a table long but its packed with an assortment. If you’re looking for a Vegas type buffet this is not even close but your taste buds will love you for deciding to go here. The seating is very tight and the restaurant fills up and empties at the same time so good luck getting a seat in the middle of the buffet. They also made a delicious Mocha Latte.

we came here for the weekend brunch buffet and it was exactly what i was looking for — a good selection of fresh food, nice variety and good quality. pretty standard breakfast fare — fralla with meats, cheeses and veggies, yogurt and muesli, pancakes with several varieties of fruit toppings (and ice cream!), boiled eggs and of course tea, coffee and lingon juice. a few nice surprises were hummus and cottage cheese — the hummus is a nice option for vegans and i just love cottage cheese so that made me happy. the breakfast buffet is 80 kronor but i would definitely say it was worth it since i had two or three heaping plates and it was all super tasty!

This place is one of the most hyped for brunch in Södemalm. It will offer you a basic assortment of brunch items but at a decent quality and a very good price. Make sure to come early, otherwise you will be stuck in a queue and get a seat at the table right in the flow of hungry hipsters.

i love this café. the atmosphere and décor on the ground floor is great, though i must say i prefer the more grungy basement area. extremely cozy, good service, decent soy latte. the only reason it doesn’t get the last star is because their smoothies are terrible. i had a strawberry flavour served to me warm. well, it is not a smoothie bar after all.

Das netteste, coolste und entspannteste Café, in dem ich jemals war! Ich wünschte, es gäbe so etwas auch in Wien. Diese Kombination aus Ungezwungenheit, Freundlichkeit und Coolness-​Faktor ist mir noch nirgends begegnet (auch, wenn man in Berlin Ähnliches findet, ist es selbst dort dann entweder einen Tick zu cool oder zu persönlich/​klein oder zu alternativ, however, aber das ist selbstverständlich nur mein ganz persönlicher Eindruck-​die Mischung im Café String finde ich persönlich wirklich einzigartig!). Ebenso die Bandbreite der Gäste-​von gutbürgerlichen Schüler/​innen, alternativ/​Hippie-​mässig eingestellten Leuten, coolen Szene-​/​Künstlertypen, jungen Müttern mit ihren Kindern bis Pensionisten, etc. etc., alle entspannt, einfach die Atmosphere und ihren Kaffee (oder was sie sonst noch so anbieten!) geniessend nebeneinander. Einfach cool, schön und dabei auch noch hip. Auch das war für mich ein sehr typischer Eindruck von Stockholm! Dass das Essen und die Getränke, die man bekommt, sehr lecker waren, vergisst man dabei fast. Und, dass das Personal wirklich nett und zuvorkommend war! Heisser Tip: jeden Samstag/​Sonntag Vormittag bis frühen Nachmittag gibt es für unter EUR10.- ein Frühstücksbüffet, mit exzellenten Pfannkuchen, frischen Früchten, Schinken, Käse, Cerialien etc., das es sich wirklich lohnt zu besuchen. five stars for their really priceworthy week-​end brunch buffé. Allways a lot of people and a relaxed atmosphere. It is very typical“Söder” (the area) with its miss-​matching furniture and young hipster crowd. I truly recommend it though!

GREAT PLACE FOR A BREAK! if you are shopping in the Sodermalm area this is great stop, if you need a break. There s the standard café menu with hot drinks and lighter meals like jacket potatoe with SKAGENRORA. Really nice corner to sit if you feel like people watching.

Hier fühlt man sich wie in nem Café in Friedrichshain. Das Möbilar ist aus allem möglichen zusammengewürfelt…ein bunter Mix und somit eine sehr lockere Athmosphäre. Es läßt sich hier super frühstücken — Sandwiches, Kuchen und Kaffees sind echt top. Und vor allem sind die Preise für Stockholmer Verhältnisse echt angenehm.
Hier würde ich immer wieder hingehen.

I stumbled across this place and it made my little heart fill with joy. I could have spent the whole day chillaxing in there. It’s a café on a corner, filled with retro furniture and old arcade games. The coffee comes in a thermos and the food was good value. The tables in the window were raised up and looked like the best spot for a bit of people watching. An afghan hound came in, so I think they’re dog-​friendly, but my Swedish wasn’t up to asking. It’s in Sodermalm, which is the coolest part of Stockholm in my opinion. It’s where I would live if I ever moved there.
