Binter Canarias

If I can avoid them, I will.
So me and a friend flew to Fuerteventura for the weekend. Now that I have my residency here in Spain, I couldn’t wait to use my cheap fairs to run around the islands. So turns out, my residency isn’t good enough for them. They need extra paper that I have to get from the internet in some mysterious location. I’m not really sure I understood anything as the anger was boiling in my brain and nothing made sense.
So it’s not their fault… Okay… have 30 euros. But don’t make my spanish citizen friend pay for another flight cause he was helping me make sense of why Binter wouldn’t let me on the flight. I don’t think he can even understand the problem. All I knew is that they wanted more money. And of course we missed our flight.
I was more mad about they making my friend pay for the flight again. Okay… me… I needed extra paper (would be nice if you mention that at the time of booking!), but my friend is a spanish citizen. His second flight should have been free. He only missed it cause of they put us aside as we watched our plan take off.
Now if this was Virgin, or any other major airline, you know if you missed the flight from a fault of theirs, they would put you on the next one free of charge.
not Binter! If ever there is a chance to not use them… swim, run, jump, climb to another island… I’ll do it!
Note to staff… try smiling! I hate my job too but I fake a smile now and again!

What? No Spaniards have chimed in on Binter Canarias, a weird name for what should be Inter Canarias, the airline spun off from Iberia and which provides service between the Canary Islands and over to the island of Madeira and to Morocco.
One word describes them: utilitarian. If you book far ahead, you can get a good price on line. There is no ferry service from Madeira over to the Canaries, so this is the only option. And they make this flight once a week.
If you want to confirm your flight since it only operates once a week, be prepared for a long wait on their reservation line. Yikes. Then, they won’t even pour you a soft drink on the 40 minute flight. I think I got a plastic glass with water. Maybe if they didn’t spend money on paint jobs, like the one shown in the photo, they could have afforded to pour me a Coke … even if the glass was full of ice cubes.
Binter Canarias serves its purpose.
