Oh my! I was SO disappointed in Tristan, after reading great reviews and knowing the long history it has had with Michelin stars. Tristan was NOT worth the price and the service was not very friendly. My advice is to spend your money at another restaurant on the harbor if you want the view. In short? The menu had great sounding food, however the amazing dishes were hit or miss. My biggest issue was that almost all our fish was overcooked — at a place that specializes in seafood? Terrible. Worse? Our waitress refused to acknowledge or apologize for multiple errors with our meal. For a meal well over $ 600, that was shocking. Now let’s get into the dirty details! I made a reservation at Tristan for a group of 8(2 children, plus a baby). They were accommodating with the children and while Tristan is a beautiful restaurant, it’s not so sterile that families with quieter children would not be welcome. The outdoor patio is really stunning. It is probably one of the most beautiful patios I have ever seen! Our table was at the front and looked right over the harbor. We loved it! The menu has a whole host of delicious and creative sounding dishes. We were disappointed to find out that you cannot have a tasting menu, even when asking in advance. Since the chef at Tristan is a world renowned Michelin man, I would love the opportunity to really see his creativity at work. You can choose a 3 or 4 course menu, but we chose to use our numbers advantage and work our way through the menu instead. The appetizers were very pretty, but only one of them really stood out: a salmon wasabi tartare. It was really delicious with a delicate balance of flavors. The steak tartare, although a similar dish, did not have the same balance and was underwhelming. An appetizer with white asparagus had an incredible sauce. The other appetizers were average. Portions were on the smaller side, but acceptable for an app. Then our main courses arrived. In our group we had 2 people order one monkfish medallion dish, and one person order a whole monkfish. What arrived were three of the same monkfish dishes. It wasn’t much of an issue. We simply asked if it could be corrected and the whole monkfish could come out? Our waitress said, yes of course but it will be 15 minutes. That seemed quite long to cook a fish but okay. She returns with a plate full of monkfish medallions and nothing else. No sauce. No sides. It was still the wrong dish, but now just plain. We again pointed out the issue. Our waitress then proceeded to argue that it was«the same portion size so is there really any need to change it again?» Monkfish medallions are small at Tristan(a total of about 5 bites, literally). That is most definitely NOT the same size as an entire fish. We were all shocked! In addition to this, all of our monkfish was rubbery and overcooked. So was the other fish at the table. We opted not to have dessert. Our waitress never apologized for the issues or for speaking to us very rudely for the remained of the night. She took half an hour to bring the check after that(it was clearly more than the usual Spain wait). The bill was then over $ 600 and we were all still hungry! I was so ashamed of having picked this place for our last night on vacation. Everyone had a terrible time. SKIP!

Good food, nice location: Tristan is a restaurant directly in the show-off Puerto Portals area … The food and service is really high quality and not completely overpriced. I’d go there again
