When I came to Spain, I was secretly worried that there were no 1337 youngsters/nerds in Spain. Fortunately, Clippy jokes and a fondness for QBert transcend cultural barriers. When the son of the host family and I were in the mood to play Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, or any other super-violent video game, we would pay 2 euros for an hour of gaming at Ciber Zulo. Even if you’re not into games, you can still use the computers(all PCs, no Macs) to surf the net, use instant messenger programs(this was the first time I’ve used ICQ since 1997), or do word processing. AND, if you’re like the Spanish version of Grandma’s Boy who spends hours on end at this ciber, you’re entitled to a discounted rate of 70 centimos per hour. [1] Alas, we had social lives and didn’t get to experience this perk. [1] A guy by the name of Santiago currently holds court.
