Halfway down the Avenida Tirajana, in close proximity to the Yumbo Centre, the Rainbow Café Bar and close to the Dunes of Maspalomas is the Asia Palace Restaurant — definitively the best Chinese restaurant we have ever encountered. The restaurant is small with an alfresco dining area giving out onto the Avenida Tirajana, which is an excellent place to dine on a hot summer’s evening in Playa del Ingles(which is, of course, EVERY evening in Gran Canaria!). The restaurant is run by Chen and his lovely wife, and the food is exquisite, with a fine selection of dishes that will please everyone from the dreaded Englishman Abroad to the most ardent foodie. We generally go for a set meal, to which we are able to add with Chen’s gleeful aid. There are a number of fine(and inexpensive!) wines to complement your meal and, if you are lucky, Chen will complete your evening by bringing out his tour de force — a bottle of a musky rice liqueur containing the pickled bodies of a couple of lizards who probably died extremely happily!
