Phuket Thai

Se nos hizo tarde para ir a comer y fue el único lugar que se me ocurrió. Había pasado una infinidad de veces por la puerta pero nunca había entrado, y aunque en los comentarios hay de todo, buenos y malos, nunca me había decidido a ir.
Entramos y nos sentaron al final del restaurante, y porque no había más. Pero bueno, mejor en la sala que en el pasillo que va de la entrada hasta esta, porque además de ser una zona de paso, no estaba muy bien iluminada.
Una vez sentados, nos trajeron la carta y la hoja del menú de fin de semana, con un entrante a elegir entre varios, un segundo a elegir también entre varios y bebida y postre o café incluidos, todo por 13’50 €
Pedimos rollitos de entrante y tallarines fritos con pollo de segundo. No tardaron demasiado en traer los rollitos. Dos muy pequeños, con una gran cantidad de aceite y una salsa que me pareció algo parecido a ketchup muy diluido.
Los tallarines no estaban mal, pese a que casi no tenían sabor, y servidos con la misma salsa que esta vez decidí no tocar.
De postre yo pedí un café ya que entre los que nos recitaron no me apetecía ninguno. Mi acompañante pidió plátano con leche de coco. Aunque me dijo que estaba muy bueno, me dio la sensación de que era una sopa con varios trozos de plátano nadando.
El servicio fue correcto pese a que el lugar estaba muy concurrido. El nivel de ruido me pareció muy alto y la decoración de local algo sobria.
En general, un lugar para volver en las mismas condiciones, pero no para deleitarse ni esperar ningún manjar del sudeste asiático.

After moving from Madrid after living there a year, this is the restaurant I miss the most. My boyfriend and I still talk about their amazing Pad Thai and Basil Beef with rice. We discovered it after wanting a change of pace from tapas, and became regulars ever since. Sometimes we went twice a week. The service is incredible and the waitstaff is so kind and always remembered us. Whenever I had friends visiting Madrid, I would take them here and everyone was a huge fan. I cannot speak more highly of this place. Everything about it is so so amazing. I highly recommend this to any Asian food lovers! Next time we are in Madrid, we will definitely stop by.

De paso por Madrid nos encontramos con este restaurante. A mí pareja y ami nos gusta mucho la comida tailandesa. Al verlo no lo pensamos 2 veces, y realmente nos sorprendió para bien, el lugar es tranquilo, el servicio muy amable y rápido, y la comida muy buena. El precio me sorprendió, porque fue muy aceptable (en Barcelona suelen ser caros). Para los Madrileños, si os gusta es tipo de comida,” No os lo perdáis”. Visita obligada cuando vuelva a Madrid.

The food and waiting staff here was great! Everyone was very helpful especially when my bad Spanish would fail me someone who worked there knew English and was able to help me! This place would be getting at least a four star review if what happened after dinner never happened. I ended up spending the rest of my night after going to this restaurant near the toilet because of the food poisoning the chicken pad Thai gave me! It has been a horrible past 12 hours! And I know the poisoning was from this restaurant because I hadn’t eaten any for 10 hours before going to this restaurant and didn’t eat anything after! Hopefully this restaurant can learn from this review and do a better job with either cooking the food more thoroughly and maybe better sanitation conditions and hopefully this won’t happen to anyone else because I wouldn’t wish this upon anyone! Besides my horrible experience after the food here was very good! Continue making good food just do a better job because you owe that to your customers! No one should get sick after going to your restaurant and it’s not that hard to make sure that doesn’t happen! Best of luck in the future and I hope you don’t get anyone else sick!!!

No suele frecuentar restaurantes tailandeses (más que nada porque a mi chico no le mola el rollo étnico), así que no sé si seré muy objetivo, porque para una vez que me invitan a uno me puse las botas.
El local es amplio, limpio y de decoración elegante. Quizás un poco por encima de la media en precios (especialmente para el menú de fines de semana, un tanto escueto en apariencia, aunque saciante).
El plato estrella es, claramente, los tallarines pad-​thai. También recomiendo las brochetas de pollo, con una salsa de cacahuete riquísima.
Comentar que en la cocina debían tener una buena formada, a lo Pesadilla en la Cocina, con voces e insultos que llegaban hasta el salón, pero el trato de los camareros fue amabilísimo y la comida llegó rápido, caliente y estaba muy sabrosa. Volveré.

Unfortunately, I’d choose negative stars if it were an option, not just for the horrendous food but also terrible interaction with the manager/​owner.
My wife and I chose to eat here after searching for a non-​tapas option in Madrid and we’re excited to try Thai in Madrid after having it many countries all over Europe and the U.S.
The food offered here was hands-​down the worst Thai we’ve ever eaten and the fact that there were only 2 other diners in the entire restaurant on a night where most restaurants were packed, was a missed red flag.
We sat down and asked if they offered fresh spring rolls as opposed to fried. We were enthusiastically told they did offer them and we sat back to wait in anticipation. When the rolls arrived they were inedible. My wife spit her bite into a napkin and I finished my bite, but wouldn’t dare venture another. The waitress asked if we didn’t like them and we said we did not and simply wanted to pay the bill and leave. Shortly thereafter the owner arrived and accused us of ordering something off the menu (not the case) and having poor taste! Certainly an Interesting take on customer service instead of him taking an introspective look at the poor quality food he allowed to leave the kitchen!
I told him we’ve eaten spring rolls everywhere and these simply were neither fresh nor were the vegetables inside… this only enraged him more and I honestly thought he may try and provoke a fight as he approached me pointing to a single Trip Advisor plaque as evidence that their food must be good. If only he put as much energy into the food as he did in defending it…
Long story short, if the appetizers are anything like the main courses, the other reviewers must have been paid by the restaurant to write them. I would strongly discourage other visitors to Madrid from dining here. They got my 10 euros, but if you value your taste buds, they shouldn’t get yours.
I’m sure the owner will respond claiming taste is a matter of opinion (as he yelled at me in the lobby as we were leaving) but in my opinion, bad food is pretty obvious as it’s not simply our taste being misguided.

Aunque los dueños son indios, este es uno de los tailandeses más ricos de Madrid. La comida está super buena y el menú tiene una buena relación calidad-​precio.

I had been craving thai food for a while and a friend took me here and it was perfect. The service is great and very nice and the food was very good.

Lo más gracioso de este restaurante es su nombre leído en inglés, que ya apunta un poco hacia dónde va a ir la experiencia. Ninguna de las personas que atienden el local es tailandesa (al menos de aspecto), lo cual tampoco me preocupa porque pocas de las que atienden los restaurantes españoles lo son en estos días; por otra parte, el local está puesto muy mono a la par que impersonal, sin ningún tipo de decoración que indique que es un local de gastronomía de un tipo u otro.
Cuando nos trajeron las cartas apreciamos que tenían en sus tapas unas manchas brillantes y pegajosas que despedían un tufillo ácido: efectivamente, un compañero me corroboró que olían a vómito, ¡qué alegría! Por contra, la comida estaba muy correcta, aunque se echa mucho en falta un poco más de picante, que para ser tailandés sale bastante soso.
Por lo demás, lo realmente caro es la bebida, que te pegan unos bofetones importantes; mi recomendación es que vayas con el plato elegido previamente para no tener que tocar las cartas con las manos desnudas y que les pidas, por favor, que te echen bastante picante. Si superas estos dos escollos es probable que disfrutes de la experiencia.

I took a group of about 20 American students to this Thai restaurant during our stay in Madrid and was thoroughly impressed with the quality & price of the food, as well as the ambience of the restaurant and the service provided. I ordered the ‘menú degustación’ (fixed-​price tasting menu) which was varied and delicious, and fairly filling for the price paid. I would definitely recommend it for groups both large or small, as well as couples, as it seemed a great place to go on a date.

Food: I ordered a beer, some Spring Rolls, and the Pad Thai con Gambas. It was somewhat expensive and the portions were surprisingly small especially the Spring Rolls, but all of the food was good and tasty. The Pad Thai was excellent. It’s quality over quantity here.
Service: They eat dinner pretty late in Madrid starting at 8pm. I showed up just shortly after they opened and was seated very promptly. They speak English really well here. Thank goodness because my Spanish was very rusty. They brought the bill in this small little intriguing looking box.
Location: The restaurant was very easy to find. It had a nice classy romantic ambiance.

I walked into Phuket Thai craving Thai food in Spain, which may seem like a strange thing. The restaurant is sparsley but elegantly decorated, with a quiet relaxed atmosphere.
The service was probably the best I had while I was in Spain. My waitress was fairly attentive, and made sure my water and drink glasses stayed full, in addition to asking me about the quality of my meal a few times.
I ordered some spring rolls as a starter. I wasn’t impressed by them, and thought they tasted like boxed frozen spring rolls you’d get at a grocery store. However, my entrée quite nice. I ordered beef with Thai basil, which came with rice, and tasted exactly how I hoped it would. The beef was thinly sliced, with slightly crispy edges, and the rice was cooked perfectly and not mushy.
The service was good, the prices were reasonable, and in general, the flavors were what I expected them to be.

This is my favourite Thai restaurant in Madrid. The staff is very and speaks excellent English and Spanish.
We live nearby and come often (either to sit down or to take out). Notable dishes for me are:
— The beef basil salad
— The Pad Thai with Gambas
— The banofee pie for dessert (in NO WAY is this thai, but it’s great!)
I won’t pretend this is the best Thai food in the world but in a city with rather limited Asian restaurants, this one is worth the visit.

Great Thai food, great staff. I live next to Thai-​town in Los Angeles, have been to Thailand multiple times, and eat Thai weekly at home. We were craving something different than Spanish fare and were decided to give it a try. We were thrilled. Very authentic, subtle Thai flavors, well prepared. Excellent vegetarian options. We asked for spicy; the staff tested on the appetizers and then asked us if we wanted the main courses spicier or if they got it right for us. The lunch deal is 11 – 12 Euros, includes starter, main, rice, soft drink, dessert (we skipped dessert and just substituted coffee). Well worth a trip and great way to break up the food if you’re vegetarian in Spain. Highly recommended.

Un cinco estrellas como una catedral. Si vas pensando en comida oriental como algo barato, no es el caso. Pero tranquilo, no son precios estratosféricos, estima unos 25 € con postre y bebida.
Realmente todo está buenísimo, desde los rollitos vietnamitas o las brochetas de pollo con salsa de cacahuete hasta el curioso sistema de color de los currys: verde (fuego!), rojo (pica), amarillo (normal).
No dejes de probar la cerveza thailandesa, es un poco carilla (4,20 €) pero sorpende y está muy buena!

Realmente tiene una comida buenísima!
La gente que trabaja allí son muy atentos.
Recomiendo los rollitos, tallarines con pollo, pollo albahaca, ternera al currículum verde, ternera albahaca… La verdad, todo lo que he comido allí me parece muy rico.

Cada vez que vengo a Madrid tengo que comer por lo menos una vez aquí! Y siempre está buenísimo! Yo pido cosas simple pero
.o.sas! Tallerines con pollo albhaca, ternera al curry verde, dos rollitos de primavera y aveces ternera albhaca. Siempre, siempre, están fenomenales. Además el servicio es personal y rapido. Yo os recomiendo mucho con 5 estrellas.

Every time I come to Madrid, I have to eat at Phuket Thai at least once (and I’m in Madrid at least twice a year.) It is always good! My order is simple, but it’s always good. I order basil chicken with noodles, beef (green curry), two spring rolls, and sometimes y the basil beef. It is always, always phenomenal! Plus, the service is personal and quick. I highly recommend Phuket Thai with 5 stars.

Dining experience was better than expected. Being skeptical, we stuck with basics — Veg Pad Thai and Veg Fried Rice. Nice atmosphere, attentive service, and tasty entrees made for an enjoyable meal, as did the mango sticky rice for dessert.

En mi opinión uno de los mejores Thai de Madrid. En especial los platos de pollo al curry en cualquiera de sus tres colores. A mi en particular me gusta mucho el picante, pero aquí se adaptan a los gustos de cada quien en cuanto al picante. Desde sin picante hasta fuego. La atención es muy buena. Para ser justo la decoración podría mejorar un poco pero no es nada de peso como para quitarle una estrella. Totalmente recomendable.

Comida Tailandesa, muy buena relación calidad precio. Buen trato Precio medio de unos ²⁵⁄₃₀ € por persona.

Un tailandes bueno, pero no tiene mucho en especial. El lugar es amplio, podria ser bueno para grupos. El ambiente es bueno y tambien el servicio.

Para el que no lo sepa, Phuket es la isla tailandesa donde se rodó la famosa película ‘La Playa’, protagonizada por Leonardo Di Caprio. Y, como curiosidad, añadir que lo que antiguamente era un paraje casi virgen y una reserva natural, hace años (imagino que ya se ha pasado la moda) fue poco a poco devastada por ricos pastosos que montaban sus raves y no recogían su basura.
Pero a lo que vamos. ¿El restaurante? Ni fú, ni fá. Siempre tengo prejuicios a la hora de evaluar los restaurantes ‘exóticos’, pero es que éste es demasiado impersonal. Lo que mola también en estos sitios, además de la comida, es su ambientación, y a este no termino de cogerle el rollo… aún así, la comida está buena (no tienen saltamontes, ni cosas así, que es lo que se come en Tailandia), aunque los hay mejores (tailandeses, se entiende).
