Cat’s Hostel

Definitely a party hostel! Don’t expect to sleep too much as you will be going out with your new hostelmates very often!
I stayed in the 14-​bedroom suite. The bedroom facilities are great, and the bathrooms are generally clean, though the toilet stalls seem to be a bit too small for a big guy like me.
The keys to open the rooms are also slightly difficult to use, especially after an night out. They don’t use traditional room keys so be aware of that! The air conditioning also sometime’s just too cold, and the staff can’t do too much to accommodate as there are the needs of 13 other guests in the same room.
Acitivities-​wise, the pub crawl staff that the hostel is collaborating with aren’t the best, they lose the group often. It definitely felt like a waste of my money.
Room Tip: The 20-​person attic bedroom is a good value! My friend stayed in that and had private showers!

We stayed in Cats Hostel for 3 Nights.
The Hostel itself was nice, very very central and affordable.
It has Pubcrawls & Walking Tours every day and a bar and other activities :)
Only downside is, that the rooms are quite small and without windows (only entrance door and an AC, which is controlled by the hostel)
When you are not looking for comfort, only for an active place, it’s probably the hostel to go to!

Only here for one night but we had a great time. Everything was super clean, check-​in was easy, great location, bar was very affordable, we met a lot of fun people, staff was nice. Will definitely return next time I’m in Madrid!

This hostel really is beautiful, and the location is prime. It’s 20 minutes from all the shopping and 20 minutes from the museum (cough– Guernica). I know that all the nightly events are well-​thought-​out, and the staff must work hard. However, hanging out in the lobby and having total strangers (NOT GUESTS) talking to me is a bit uncalled for. I understand that the bar in the front is open to the public, but it’s way too easy to get inside.
The staff were friendly enough though, when they let my friend and I leave our luggage after checking out.
Be early for the free breakfast, because you’ll be left with nothing. Try not to get the attic room (top floor) because the wifi is terrible. Also, try your best to get the key locks that look like watches, and not the key cards (for convenience).

Soy un viajero de distintos perfiles pero cuando voy solo tiro por lo lowcost, siempre intento encontrar lo más chulo al mejor precio. He de decir que ello me ha llevado a dormir en sitios muy bonitos, vivir momentos imborrables y conocer gente chula.
El Cat’s Hostel tiene una ubicación estupenda, a pocos minutos andando de la Puerta del Sol, y a una manzana de la parada de la parada de Metro Anton Martín.
El inmueble que ocupa el hostel es un edificio rehabilitado donde los dormitorios (literas) y habitaciones estan alrededor de un patio central decorado con motivos mozarables que es realmente bonito. Además el hostel dispone nada más entrar de recepcion 24h y un bar, donde sirven cada mañana el desayuno-​buffet que está incluido. Además en cada planta tienes varios ordenadores aparte de Wifi en todo el recinto con una calidad decente.
Tener cama, ducha y desayuno en pleno centro de Madrid por 9 €/​noche me parece una pasada para una escapada.
Si buscas alojamiento chulo para dormir y ducharte a precio asequible, te lo recomiendo.

It’s a big hostel and has all the facilities you would hope for. However the large rooms are not exceptional and the noise can be bothersome at night. Beds are creaky and the common rooms are a bit sparse. With a few renovations and some modern upgrading, it could become a far better hostel.

De mis muchos éxodos al extranjero a disfrutar de la buena vida, he ido conociendo hostales variopintos. Entre otros muchos me encandilo la propuesta de los most famous hostels. Hostales de diversión para jóvenes de erasmus o de paso, mochileros. Todas las comodidades que un joven precisa (porque yo todavía soy joven [de espiritu]). Digase, habitaciones dobles o triples, o cuádruples, wifi, desayuno chachi, sala común, consigna, precios muy muy económicos, limpieza, duchas (comunes) y bar. Sobre todo bar. De esta cadena yo conocía el de Munich por haberlo frecuentado en varias ocasiones. El Bar era la leche. El centro del ecosistema del bar. Abría más tarde que todo lo demás, los precios eran super económicos, el ambiente era joven, guiri, erasmurizante, jovial y bastante sano. Trasteando en la página de los muchachos descubrí que tenían hostal en Madrid. Trasteando en esta página descubrí que además tenía pinta de ser como el de Munich.
Y allí que me fui. Me costo un par de veces encontrarlo. Está en una calle recondita cerca de huertas. Otro par más superar el temor escénico de entrar en un hostal en el que no te hospedas para tomar una cerveza. Al final tuve que ir de la mano de una persona para atreverme. Siempre le agradeceré al chileno haberlo hecho. Me sentía que estaba expoliando alguna ruina clásica, que estaba penetrando en un santuario que no me pertenecía. Me encontré exactamente lo mismo que había dejado en Munich. Un bar con un ambiente fenomenal, en el que organizan visitas guiadas, ronda de bares de tapas, competiciones de beer bong (yo llegue a echar un pee bong en el baño pero eso es otra historia). El bar es pequeño como para unas 50 personas, el baño es unisex. Las camareras hablan ingles y español y son bastante más que muy majas. Simpatiquerrimas.
Es un ambiente guiri, erasmus perfecto para entablar y practicar ese ingles oxidado de instituto de I am Muzzy. También es un buen lugar de ligoteo. Mucha guiri que todavia. Los minis de cerveza están a 3,50 lo que para la zona es un chollo de proporciones biblicas. Hay mesitas redondas con sillas, barra. Como pega, que cierra muuuy pronto como a la 1,30 creo recordar.
Un sitio curioso, peculiar y único en la ciudad. Con un ambiente lúdico festivo bucólico espectacular.

Puts all other hostels in shame.
The place is big and beautiful, just look at the pictures. The bathrooms were clean and so were the rooms. Everyday I saw numerous employees cleaning every part of the hostel. There is a bar that serves cheap drinks and has a nightly pub crawl. The hostel has daily walking tours and social events. As for location, it’s perfect. Located in central Madrid and within walking distance of everything. The neighborhood is NOT sketchy.
Looked at some other hostels when I was in Madrid (people I met through tours) and Cats is easily the best.

This hostel was convenient, but the staff were terribly rude. We had horrible interactions with THREE different staff members that were not at all welcoming or friendly with us. Kinda makes me wonder… why are you even working in a hostel?

Eines der besten Hostels in Madrid. Hatte Glück nur € 14 zu zahlen für ein 8-​er Zimmer das nur von 4 Leuten belegt wurde.
Frühstück war inklusive, WLAN auch und es ist echt gemütlich angelegt. Die Bäder sind ok, Toiletten oft verstopft.

Die Location ist sehr zentral, die Leute nett und insgesamt kann man das Hostel nur empfehlen!

One of my favorite hostels that I’ve stayed at.
Why to stay here:
–The lobby is beautiful. Peep the gorgeous stained glass ceiling in my photo.
–Centrally located. Walking distance to Kapital (8 story club), Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor. and a host of other things. I bought metro rides but I didn’t really use it at all, most places were walkable. Shopping close by too.
–Bar with cheap drinks (beer, sangria, mojitos). As well as a beer vending machine.
–Helpful and friendly staff
–Clean facilities (bathroom, beds)
–Lots of activities (parties, pub crawls, walking tours, and the list goes on and on)
–Free printing for boarding passes or tickets
Why you wouldn’t want to stay here:
–If you like peace and quiet. Lots of young party goers who make a lot of noise.
–If you like privacy. These rooms have a ton of beds

Very nice hostel in the city of Madrid. Low Price, clean rooms and cold beer/​nonalcoholics out of a drinks dispenser. I’ve enjoyed it! N1

This hostel is a great place to go if you are traveling alone or in a small group. It’s highly social and very centrally located. The building is beautiful and has it’s own bar type area in the basement. I stayed here a few years ago, so, it may have changed, but I remember it being fairly cheap. You definitely need to plan on locking up your stiff as there are a lot of people going in and out and there isn’t much privacy but for the young and energetic who are traveling on a budget, this is a great option.

A lot of folks rave about this place. Lonely Planet gives it a big thumb’s up, as does Hostel World. But, as with most large hostels, there’s a lot of good to offset the bad. Ultimately, in my opinion, there are better places to stay at equally competitive prices in Madrid.
Let’s start with the good:
1. Gorgeous building built in the Moorish style, complete with a stained glass roof sheltering the large, two story courtyard. It feels a bit like an enclosed harem but lovely nonetheless.
2. Cheap, 18 bucks a night.
3. Has laundry, free internet, free happy hour, and is located just a couple of blocks away from Plaza Mayor.
4. Everyone’s social and all the pretty kids stay here (no joke, I checked out other hostels in Madrid… not to be a creep or anything).
And then there’s the bad:
1. The bathrooms are revolting and seemingly never cleaned (I found a used condom floating on the floor of two stalls and someone vomited in a third). Flip flops (that you can throw away at the end of the stay) are a must here.
2. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy at night. And very loud.
3. The rooms are small so it feels a bit crammed. If I had to venture a guess at the distance between beds, I would say it’s less than 20 inches. Not so comfortable if you’re traveling solo and end up next to a stranger.
If you net things out, this place ends up being a solid place to stay. But, beware: if you’re looking for a quiet night and some rest, look for another spot.

Este sitio es la caña, LA-​CA-​ÑA! Está escondidito, como los buenos tesoros, se encuentra en pleno centro de Madrid y puede que incluso los
vecinos de la calle desconozcan su existencia.
Tuve yo un novio guiri que me lo enseñó y decidí no dejar de ir. El guiri… desapareció, pero eso ya es otra historia, en cambio el Cat’s perdura en mí.
Es un lugar que deseas enseñar a todo el mundo pero a la vez quieres guardar en secreto para que nadie lo mancille. Quieres que siga con su ambiente y con esos precios que te traen loco de lo baratos que son.
No he estado nunca en el hostal, pero el bar que tienen en el sótano es estupendo. Siempre hay buen ambiente y gente de otros países con la que poderte relacionar. Hay como pequeños pufs que puedes agrupar alrededor de mesitas, incluso juntarte en las mesas con otros grupos de personas. En sí el sitio te transmite un buen rollo alucinante.
La cerveza… baratísima! Y lo que no sabía es que hacían conciertos! y mira que voy veces! Habrá que repetir :)

Cats hostel es un sitio erasmus 100%. El hostal es muy barato y tengo que decir que está en muy buenas condiciones, en relación con otros hostales de gente joven de España y Europa. Tiene taquillas para dejar las pertenencias por las noches (por que las habitaciones son multitudinarias)
Tiene un patio precioso estilo árabe, que parece mentira que te encuentres un lugar de encuentro tan agradable en un hostal barato barato.
En Cats hostel se organizan Pub Crawls, que son una auténtica horterada y engaño para guiris. También. tapas tour y guías turísticas. (este sitio está pensando para extranjeros) aunque por qué no, también para viajar por España.
El bar está muy bien, hay ambientillo y la gente se conoce ahí. El público de este hostal es internacional y muy joven (y muy fiestero!)

Este es uno de los secretos mejor guardados de Madrid. En pleno centro, a dos pasos de la pza. de Santa Ana, hay un hostal muy conocido por turistas extranjeros. De hecho, está considerado como uno de los mejores hostales para mochileros del mundo. Pero lo que nos atañe no es el hostal en sí, sino el Cave Bar, un bar situado bajo el hostal, que es uno de los bares con la cerveza más barata de Madrid, y un ambiente de lo más divertido. Como su nombre indica, el Cave Bar esta en una cava típica madrileña bajo el hostal, que ha sido transformada en un bar pequeño, con algunas mesas y sillas, un escenario donde a veces tocan grupos y una escueta barra. La oferta de bebidas es escasa, básicamente cerveza y sangría, pero a muy buenos precios. No sirven comida, pero al ser el bar del hostal, puedes llevar tu comida y bebida siempre que quieras. Como es un bar de turistas, todos los días de la semana hay ambientillo y es el sitio perfecto para practicar tu inglés, francés, o lo que se tercie. También tienen unos ordenadores con Internet, pero son para uso de los que se alojan en el hostal. En definitiva, es un sitio perfecto para empezar la noche si vas a salir por el centro, y ya de paso hacerte amigo de unas australianas y llevártelas de fiesta.

Lage: wirklich zentral gelegen, zur Plaza Mayor ist es nur ein kurzer Fußweg und Anbindung an Metro ist auch vorhanden
Preis: war ich zufrieden. Pro Nacht in einem 10 Bett Zimmer um die 18 Euro
Extras: kostenlose Gepäckaufbewahrung
kostenlose Schließfächer im Zimmer,
Internetzugang an 3 PCs, W-​Lan vorhanden, gegen Pfand Handtücher ausleihbar
Frühstück: Croissant, Kaffe, Orangensaft
Sonstiges: Hier funktionieren sowohl die Türen, als auch die Schließfächer mit einem kleinen Armband, dieses funktioniert praktisch wie die Magnetkarten und ersetzten die Schlüssel
Mängel: es war teilweise im Zimmer etwas stickig, weil es nur ein Fenster zum (geschlossenen) Innenhof gab
Fazit: ein cooles, junges Hostel, mit lockerem, freundlichem Service. Kann ich weiterempfehlen!

It’s a good choice for those who are looking foward for a cheap hostel in the city centre. The rooms are quite confortable and modern.
It has free internet, but other services, such as laundry are by paying.
I’ve been there a few times last summer and the best thing is the pub that it has the hostel downstairs. It has really cheap drinks and sometimes live DJ music.
I found it a very good place to rest, but also to meet lots of international people in your stay in Madrid.
I absolutely recommend it!

The pluses: no street noise, very dark rooms, washing and drying machines (have to pay), beautiful large inner courtyard, moorish in design, with chairs and sofas to chill out on, FREE INTERNET in the nightclub downstairs, VERY CHEAP BEER in the nightclub, half a litre for EUR2.50, or a huge glass for EUR3.50, whereas standard Madrid price is EUR5.50. electronic lockers so your stuff is secure, electronic doors.
The downsides: small bunks, with people drinking in the room and making noise, small breakfast (compared with Los Amigos Sol where you can stuff your face), small shower cubicles with no hooks inside, so you have to walk to the showers wearing practically nothing. no kitchen, so you can’t make your own dinners, ALCOHOL IS BANNED you’re only allowed the booze you buy in the hostel.
This is a great hostel to go to if you want to meet people and relax, or get drunk very cheaply. The bunks are small, but it is really quiet and dark at night, which is a blessing in Madrid.
