Eric R. read about Arrayanes in the wikitravel so after five hours at the Alhambra, we hiked over here. The gentleman who came to us at the front told us there was a 30 minute lunch wait as the placed was packed, and I could not wait. Eric R. asked him if I could use the restroom and he was very gracious — after his kindness I decided to ask if we could make a dinner reservation, which we did. We returned 9 hours later for dinner(early for Spain though) and the anticipation was high. This is a Halal restaurant so I did not have to worry about pork in my meal(which is hard in Spain). We ordered Moroccan green mint tea which was so delicious and brought me back to my time in Bedouin tent in Israel where we were served tea in the mornings like this. We started with the salad sampler for two and Arab bread. The sampler included hummus, eggplant, sweet peppers, and Israeli salad. It was delicious with the bread(which was ordered separately). For our entrees, we ordered the lamb rice and the kefte tagine. The tagine was presented beautifully at the table and had poached eggs just like one I made at home recently from a tagine cookbook. The lamb was tender and melted in the mouth. We had a wonderful mean and excellent service both from the gentleman from lunch and another server. I highly recommend Arrayanes for a meal.

As were were enjoying our stroll thru Grenada we started craving Moroccan food. So we asked locals where to head This was wonderful. Beautiful restaurant quiet and relaxing after the busy day touting and shopping. The house lemonade with mint was the perfect refresher. Our server reconvened the appetizer sampler for two and I asked about the house specialty tagine We were not disappointed. The appetizer was plentiful with 4 different dips and warm thick pita. Our fish was cooked with incredible spices and left us wanting more. When I return to Grenada we will stop here for sure

Absolutely fabulous place– best meal we had in Granada. We ordered the harira soup, chicken with olives tagine, and couscous with chicken, onions and raisins and they were all really flavorful, delicious, amazing. The house lemonade with mint is also really refreshing and a must try. The owner was lovely and came to greet us. The service was top notch too.

Just finished having dinner at Arrayanes. We had high hopes since we wanted some middle eastern food. Our main man Rick Steves recommended this restaurant so we decided to give it a try. We ordered the salad sampler, lentil soup, Rice with lamb and water. The food was ok and we were fine with that until the bill came. We were charged 1 euro for the bread that came with our salad sampler which we did not order, but was served to us so we assumed it came with the salad sampler. We also were served a bottle of water that we did not want to pay for but the waiter came over and opened it before we could refuse it so we had no choice. That was another 2.50 euro. We feel that our food expectations were not met but that depends on individual taste and it’s a gamble one takes trying a new restaurant. What we did not appreciate were the little tricks used to get a couple of more euros out of us like serving us bread with an appetizer and later charging us for it. A place that has a reputation of great service and welcoming atmosphere should not resort to these tricks. We think the owner does strive to provide a unique experience by attending to the tables but the schemes to charge extra really did ruin our dinner and overall experience.

over-the-top awesomeness! stuffed our faces silly with their salad trio to start with, then had the couscous with chicken, onions and raisins, and beef tagine. dessert was dates and almond tart, served with coffee and their fabulous green mint tea. our host was incredibly gracious and spoke 7(!) languages. we lucked out because we got there early but boy this place got busy and was turning people away!

Très bonne cuisine et serveurs charmants. La pastille au poulet était une des meilleures que j’ai mangée. Je conseille de tester la boisson mente citron et le thé à la menthe final qui sont des merveilles.

Lovely middle eastern restaurant in the old part of town. Super friendly staff — generous portions. Delicious Tajines and Cous cous dishes. The kefta meatballs were also divine. A great choice if you’re in the area. Beautiful ambiance as well. They also did a to go plate for my sick wife. Very kind. Fantastic dining.

This place was amazing, best meal in Spain so far! The food was fresh and delicious. Best of all, the owner is a super hospitable man and showed all of us so much warmth. He spent time with us at the table and patiently explained Moroccan cuisines to us. You will not be disappointed, please be sure to pay a visit, I wish I had gone there earlier. As Rick Steves put it, it’s authentic as it gets.

Great food and outstanding service. We had lamb and chicken skewers, cuscus, and the salad sampler appetizer. Everything was great. We also got few desserts. OMG, the house dessert, so delicious.

Fantastic food with great vegetarian options: The harira soup is outstanding; the salads are excellent — especially the baba and the hummus; the couscous is very tasty with vegetables full of flavor and caramelized onions; the lentil soup is simple and pretty good; the Moroccan tea is tasty and not too sweet; and the mint lemonade is a bit sweet but thirst quenching and yummy. The owner, Mustafa, is wonderful, energetic, fun, and helpful, and the ambiance is fun: Moorish decoration but also with a disco light in the corner and music that ranged from traditional Middle Eastern to house music. Can’t wait for the next opportunity to eat here.

amazing middle eastern food. we got the traditional meatballs(there are a zillion) and the lamb with rice and veggies. House lemonade is banging — which is good because they don’t serve alcohol. This place is(apparently) in every guide book out there so it’s 100% tourists and there was a line to get in when they opened. However, you can show up later and still get a table.

This was the best food we have had in Spain Food(5⁄5) — amazing appetizers. Best hummus and pita I’ve ever had. Delicious lamb and chicken that melted in your mouth. The rice with chicken was delicious. Dessert(mix of Arabian and Weterb pastries) was paired beautifully with fresh Morroca mint and honey tea. Service(5⁄5) — all the waiters were extremely friendly, spoke multiple languages, and gave us great recommendations of what to eat. The owner himself came out and talked with us while ensuring we were having a pleasant time. Atmosphere(5⁄5) — the restaurant is beautifully decorated with unique Moroccan decorations and a warm atmosphere. This is a must-eat if you are in Granada!

Excellent food and service. Host was very attentive. We had the salad selections for two as a start. Good choice. The flat bread came to the table hot and tasty. Main courses were lamb tangine and couscous with chicken, onions and raisins. Both were perfect. Finished meal with the house pudding(chocolate and almonds). Five stars for food and ambiance. Meal for two was 50 euros. Take a break from the tapas scene and try this gem.

This place was truly just a lovely establishment! As crowded as it was, we were seated quickly. The owner is so friendly and welcoming and a polyglot of at least seven languages! The Moroccan mint lemonade was refreshing and tart! We ate the lamb cous cous and the meatball dish and enjoyed our food so much, we actually came back the next day to enjoy more food! The next day we tried the hummus and baba ghanoush which were on point, followed by the lamb tajine and chicken cous cous. All in all, food, ambiance and service really rounded out two wonderful dining experiences for a five star review!

Ambiance: you’re transported to a Moroccan living room. Very cozy and intimate with live birds singing while you eat. Service: Stupendous! Mustafa, the owner, makes you feel like family and wants you leaving full and happy Food: excellent! Try Pastilla, lemon chicken and any of their desserts. Will definitely be coming back! Bön apetit!

It’s incredibly difficult to find restaurants with good service in Spain. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the restaurant and how accommodating they were. The owner enthusiastically and seated us as soon as a table was open. The food is very good and would definitely recommend it to anyone who comes to the area. The skewers are especially presented really well.

The food here is sublime. I spent a good part of a year living in the UAE and eating a lot of Middle Eastern(dominantly Lebanese actually) food, and this was a wonderful dose of it. This place has moved a few spaces down for the meanwhile, and like most sit-down restaurants, it’s full of themed restaurant décor. Very comfy space though with nice back cushions for those in the bench :) chances are you will be face-first in your food instead of leaning back though! Service– 5⁄5 okay, some of these guys speak 4 – 5 languages. The owner graciously came around and thanked us so much for stopping in. He was so kind… And he speaks seven languages fluently. Man, I’m a dirtbag for knowing 1.5. Food– 5⁄5 «salad» appetizer for two 5÷5− 10 Euros. Hummus, Moroccan baba ganoush, and Arabic salad, which is seasoned cucumber and tomato. All were fresh and very flavorful. Hummus was heavy in tahini, but off set with a squeeze of lemon. Eggplant was so flavorful and fresh tasting! I like that it is still chunks and not smashed to mush! They serve a lovely, thick and spongy bread that you can tear on the horizontal for a perfect scooping bite. :) Lamb tajine with prunes and almonds 5÷5− crisp peeled almonds with dried apricots and prunes rehydrated. A cinnamon taste and lamb that was fork tender. YES. Chicken and vegetables 4÷5− while the long grain rice was delicious, chicken was a little dry. «Lemonade” — lemon mint drink. Here I think it is like mint though ;) excellent and refreshing in this atrocious summer heat! Bartender, bring me three… I don’t think you can really go wrong with any Moroccan restaurant in the area– it’s delicious, fresh food, you know? That being said, this one is pretty amazing. A truly excellent meal!

Granada was the last stop for me and my daughter on our Spain vacation. After being terribly disappointed with the food options(I don’t eat pork, beef or tuna) and food service in Spain in general, it was quite a delight to find Arrayanes. We actually met the owner in the street and after sharing his story of ‘just returning from California last week’, he invited us to come for dinner. The interior is a feast for the eyes — tilework, lanterns, brocade, prints, low seating all make you feel like you’ve been transported to another culture. And the number of Moroccans eating there was a sure sign of the food’s authenticity. Yes, it was crowded and noisy and we had to wait a while for our food but my lamb tagine, moroccan tea, plus the hospitality and ambiance made it worthwhile! Bonus: if you go at the right time, you can hear the call to prayer from the balcony of the nearby mosque!

Always liked Moroccan food and it’s hard to find good, authentic Moroccan cuisine in the Bay Area. Came in and tried their tagines– chicken with lemon and olives and the lamb with prunes, almonds, raisins and caramelized onions. Also had the their sweet mint tea, babaganoush and the Moroccan harira soup with lentils and chickpeas. The dishes were good but the establishment felt a bit commercialized. Service was decent but lacked hospitality. The menu also offers various western desserts and drinks. I saw plates decorated with whipped cream(cool whip style) that appeal to young American tourists.

I was in Granada roughly 3 – 4 years ago and while Spain is gorgeous, I found it quite difficult to eat a good meal. I only eat halal meat and that turned out to be a quite a challenge. I somehow stumbled upon this place in the Arab quarter and was so grateful that I did. The food is pretty good — I ate there multiple times while in Granada and tried probably everything. There are other Moroccan restaurants around the area but from what I tried, they were all horrible. The restaurant itself is very pretty — I felt like I was transported back in time to an Arab country. The owner is a very nice man who speaks multiple languages and makes you feel like you’re a guest of his instead of a customer.
