SuperMax is the ONLY Supermarket in Old San Juan, they sell name-​brand items from the states as well as locally made Breads, Pastries & Medalla Beer. But the BEST item they sell is their Rotisserie Chicken, it’s superb but it’s not low-​sodium at all. (Though you can remove the salty skin). They offer a free shuttle within Old San Juan until 7PM during weekdays. They should try to improve at labeling all of their shelf items, and, the place is in dire need of remodel. The staff is helpful and their shuttle drivers are the BEST!

This place is a welcome break from the fried food options in OSJ. I can’t believe someone is complaining that they have no philly cream cheese with salmon. Really???
They can make you acai bowls, carry all the goods you need (except philly cream cheese, apparently) and they are super helpful.

If this place had any competition in VSJ they would loose. Please someone open a competent grocery store here! Every time I go in they are stocking in the middle of the day and they give you dirty looks when you try to get items from behind their stacks of boxes. I bought a filet mignon the first time I went in. I spit out the first bite and threw it all away it was so bad. I’m not sure if it was horse meat or just a PR cow (have you seen those depressing looking animals on the road side?) Another time I went and bought 4 bags of ice for a party and used there golf cart service. The driver waited for 20 mins so his buddy could ride with him (not a supermax customer) while my ice melted and he didn’t even know the streets. VSJ is tiny. I’ve been here for 3 weeks and I know every street. I assume he was just being a jerk since I’m not local. It’s either that or he was a moron. I suggest you go to Costco.

The two most important things to know:
1) They sell booze!
2) They can give you a ride back to your place in Old San Juan in their oversized golf cart after your purchase.
