If you’ve got a lot of luggage, get it after you check in because you may be placed in the rooms that are in a separate building than the casino itself. Parking is $ 10 for 24 hours with ins and outs. Ponce Plaza Hotel is the first place we stayed in PR that had central AC. In addition, the temperature is easily adjustable with the thermostat. There’s also running hot water, though you may not need it in such a humid place. The bed and linens are soft and comfortable too. In case you’re wondering, there is no microwave or refrigerator in the room, but there is an ice machine. The room comes equipped with a coffee pot, but coffee grounds are not provided. If you’re in dire need, you can go downstairs to Melao for your fix. We were here the night before Dia de Reyes and Ponce was poppin’! The street noise can be a bit bothersome, but it’s bearable. What I like about this hotel is the location and convenience. The plaza and many points of interests are within walking distance. The front reception is also friendly and very helpful. Overall, not a 5 star experience, but pretty good for the price you pay!

The Ponce Plaza Hotel & Casino has great potential and a convenient location but missed too many of the small details. We stayed in one of the spacious junior suites. The room had a king bed, desk, lounge chair with ottoman, dressers, and an enormous bathroom. Those are huge pluses! What didn’t I like? We had two rooms and neither had coffee. The machines were there. The caffeine was not. Maybe the rooms are so large that housekeeping got lost and forgot about the coffee. Another downer is that one of the rooms had absolutely no hot water — in the sink or shower. Also, for some reason(excuse we got was historical regulations) you can’t control the AC temperature in your room and have to call the front desk to alter it. Finally, the noise was terrible. I understand we are in the center of Ponce and that the building is historic. Those are pros. The hotel’s job is to make sure those don’t turn into cons. On a weekday night I couldn’t get to sleep at 10pm because of the bar diagonal from us blaring its music and residual noise from the main plaza. I really don’t think I have ever stayed in such a noisy place… and our rooms were supposed to be the better ones on site. The hotel can certainly figure out a way to either insulate or cancel the noise, chat with the nearby bar owners about not making their patrons go deaf, or get involved with the municipality to pass a noise ordinance level. When a pair of 30 year olds(one being Latino) has a problem with the noise then there is probably something not okay. Parking was decent($ 10) and conveniently behind the hotel. The lounge and hotel were kept up well. The reception was nice. Overall, not a great experience but my complaints are things the management could address.
