Been here a couple of times. The food was first great and then mediocre. It’s a great idea not well done. They should have gotten an architect and lighting consultant. Maybe not worth the trip if you are not going anyplace else near.

Pros– This place is very nice the airplane theme and the sort of isolated place where is located, is very relaxing. If you want to relax and get some awesome pictures this is definitely it. Cons– But Starting with the wait time… This was around noon time only 2 couples were there when we arrived… We waited over an hour for our meal, and the waitress came and said that the stove was not working, they don’t even have a professional kitchen, but we didn’t say anything, just said ok and waited for the food… BUT when the food came, it was NOT, I repeat NOT good, I had the mofongo(mashed plantains) with carne de cerdo(pork) and salad… the pork was NO meat by all means, it was just the pork fat extra fried and super crunchy that I could not chew, nevertheless swallow, the salad was wilted, and when I asked the waitress for fresh salad she said that was the only one they had. The mofongo had no taste at all and I’m a true puertorican I know how the real mofongo tastes like and that wasn’t it, usually they serve mofongo with a mojito is a kind of vinaigrette with garlic; well, this people didn’t even had that. The people in this place don’t even have a register they do your check by hand like they’re from the 1950’s…At the end of the meal we asked for the check and they brought the handmade receipt like 20 mins after, and the amount seemed a little off, so we asked the waitress and she said, that that was they’re $ 20.00 tip included, they don’t even asked or wait for the customer to give the tip, they just added… obviously the bill was adjusted… But unless the owner makes some DRASTIC changes, I just wish them luck. They have the good idea for a cool unique place, but they need a new and modern kitchen equipment, new staff and of course a register will certainly speed things up. If you don’t believe this review try it for yourself. Wish you the best luck!!! :-)

Went there a few days ago. We ordered ribs, shrimp and them«chuleton»(pork chops). One thing to have in mind is that we got there a bit late(half hour before closing). Unfortunately the pork chops and ribs were not well done. They were cold, and the shrimp was not tasty. The venue is great for pictures and the setting was nice. You can actually eat in one of the planes. And there is also a little floating bridge were you can take pictures. We ended up giving us the cheesecake for free but it I think that even if you are closing your impression to others should still matter, they didn’t care. Oh! And one more thing, they include the tip in the bill, be aware not to over tip!

As a pilot I am already a fan of anything aviation related. This place just made me giggle on the insides when I saw it online so I knew I had to pay a visit when I visited Puerto Rico. Half of the adventure is just trying to find this restaurant. Located on highway 143 in Barranquitas, PR you will not find this on your GPS. It took a lot of driving down winding mountain roads and past broken villages from the north side of the island to track down mile marker 57 where Los Aviones is located. The staff was very attentive however I could not tell if we were a joke to them or a shock as the only tourists that seemed to be there. They poked their heads in and out of the plane we were seated alone in and seemed to gawk at us as we ate. It was New Years Day, so I suppose service was a little slower than usual but only one or two other couples were eating. The portion size was very large. We ordered a 747 platter(steak, pork, rice, beans, mofongo) and it ended up being around $ 25.00 for two to share. The food wasn’t the greatest but being able to sit inside of a gutted out DC-3 or Convair 440 and enjoy a meal was amusing as an aviation enthusiast. According to the waiter they are planning to build a hotel in the near future with airline themed rooms. My favorite line of the day was from our waiter who told me he’d never heard of a woman pilot before…

Absolutely over rated! In most tourist magazines/maps you can find some advertisement for the rest. Aviones. On our hell ride to Vaca Brava(when we almost gave up) we stopped at Aviones, and it was like walking into the jungle. Its set deep down a huge hill, and the first thing you see are the full size aviones perched in the trees. There was absolutely no one there, it was a ghost town in the middle of the jungle! Before we sat down I asked to look at a menu, and a mofongo that you can get in any barrio for like $ 5! and a chicken breast was like $ 25! Such a tourist trap!

Two stars for innovative theme. For the food and the«rip-off-the-tourists» service, no stars. When you enter the drive, they charge you two dollars just to go to the restaurant. You get one drink but it is at their discretion. We had a Pina Colada for the gratis drink, and two rather dull margaritas. We started the first course with a ham soup sadly lacking much ham. I asked about the whole fried fish and was told that it depended on the size. Small was $ 20, medium, $ 25 and large $ 30 or more. I asked how big a medium size was and she said bigger than a small one and smaller than a large one. They could not show a sample and I know why. The fish was fried earlier and kept warm, which, being a pretty astiue fish person, I could tell by the dry texture. The mofongo served with it was also dry as the Sahara and even the rather ordinary sauce could not help. The chef obviously thinks that impaling every entrée with deep fied sticks of linguini is more importnt than the quality of the food. The biggest contest of the evening came when I got the check. It was for $ 68.67 and the total circled was $ 78.67. I asked why and was told to look below at the tip box, which was calculated at 15% which was $ 10. I gave her $ 80 and she asked if it was OK, I said no, I wanted my $ 1.33 change. She returned and handed me 33 cents and had the extra dollar crumpled up in her other hand along with the $ 10 tip. I said she owed me one dollar more and she reluctantly gave it to me. This may seem very petty, but, when someone insults me by declaring their own tip, that is what they are going to get, no more, no less. There was no blurb on the menu mentioning the automatic gratuity. I hate being screwed without being bought a drink at least. She just picked the wrong people to mess with, since my partner was born in Barranquitas and we have been there more than a dozen times to visit with family. Oh, well, maybe by next time something else will be there to try. Right now, my opinion of food in PR is, find a family and eat home made, because unless you are willing to shell out big bucks for dinner in PR, you are going to get some real mediocre crap.

This is a very touristy place. It’s in the middle of the mountains(better get a GPS to find it — or a tour guide), but worth going. It’s really cute with all different planes where you can actually sit and have dinner. There’s also outside seating, and of course you can expect some dancing in the weekends. They also have a hanging bridge and a control tower. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Orders come out quick. Definitely worth going when visiting the island, plus you’ll have some great pictures.
