My husband and I were referred to this place by one of the locals after visiting the Palace and it was worth every second! Our waiter was amazing and made perfect wine selections. It was between lunch and dinner while we were there so it was quiet and the staff joked with us occasionally which was so enjoyable. My pork tenderloin and rice were divine and my husband loved his steak. Since we turned down dessert, the waiter surprised us with a sip of sweet wine on the house! Great experience!

Okay let’s start with the barnacles. First of all, where else can you get barnacles? I don’t know. Not where I’m from. But if you’re here, you should. Think miniature volcano-looking shells with stony beaks coming out. You pull them out by the beak to get to these little salty sea morsels. Then the octopus. THEOCTOPUS. You should get it and then think about it like it’s scallop at the thick end, pork belly in the middle, and sea bacon at the tips. Because that’s what it is. There’s also a great wine list and a friendly staff who helped us plan our courses & wine pairings for a phenomenal meal. A highlight of our trip!

One of our favorite restaurants from our Portugal trip! Friendly staff, great food and good wine. We enjoyed the pork belly, spicy small octopus, stuffed mushrooms, Vinho Verde Soalheiro, strawberries in port wine with ice cream, chocolate cake with caramel sauce, desserts were paired with Rozes white port wine and Bula Tawny Port. If you are in Sintra this is a must visit! We left our camera here and the waiter found our hotel and called over to let them know we left it! Thank you so much!

I went here a few weeks ago and I am still talking about this place. It is a cozy restaurant in the heart of Sintra right next to the tourist office. We were immediately greeted by our energetic waiter who was thrilled to teach us all about Portugal and Portuguese cuisine. He sat us at a cozy table inside the restaurant and immediately brought out marinated olives. We selected a Vinho Verde called Soalheiro Alverinho(Alverinho is the type of grape) and our waiter educated us on its origin and why it is called Vinho Verde. He then brought us a complimentary slice of fresh cottage cheese(quieso do azeitão) which was light and creamy. My father ordered their roasted octopus, which was very flavorful and tender, not chewy! My mother and brother each ordered the pork special which was so tender that it fell off the bone. And I ordered the cuttlefish with potatoes and onions. This was very tasty as well. I would definitely order either one next time! I highly suggest going here! One of my favorite memories in Sintra.

A charming restaurant, great service nothing too much trouble. We ordered various tapas style dishes. The food was excellent, especially the black ham. Highly recommended.

This is a very cute place, small, intimate, probably remodeled within the last ten years(little details like the modern lighting and decent sound system) but it takes you back and makes you think it might have been here for 50 years. Hey, maybe it has been, I can’t be sure. The service started out slow, perhaps a mix-up, but got better on this kind of busy Saturday night. They bill themselves as a restaurant, wine bar, and tapas place. There is no place to sit at the bar, but they have many Portuguese wines by the glass. The menu is a full, I assume, mostly basic Portuguese menu, and that includes the tapas. We tried a total of three wines, all quite good. We started with the soup of the day, which the waiter told us was watercress soup. It actually was much more complex than that and wow, great! Potatoes, a hint of carrot and hot pepper. Rich and hearty. Yum. We had several tapas, the fried green beans, subtle, nutty flavor. The fried sheep cheese, sharp and good. The octopus with onions and paprika, and the onions were pungent and raw and offset the very tender octopus beautifully. The ham that tasted like Iberico, the pigs are fed nuts to make the ham nutty. Very good! I absolutely recommend this place if you don’t want the usual tourist experience. Sure, tourists find this place, but it’s really intimate and simple and quite good.

Amazing roasted octopus!!! It was simply prepared and yet so scrumptious that it became one of the most unforgettable food I ate in Portugal! It was cooked to perfection, the octopus was soft and so flavorful that I would come back just for this dish alone! I came here based on the cab driver’s recommendation and I’m so glad I took his advice! The ambiance was cozy and romantic, and the manager was friendly and attentive and spoke good English too. I tried the lamb too but roasted octopus was far superior! Trust me, just order the roasted octopus and you’ll thank me later!
