We ate here on our first night and our last in Porto. The service was great and the food was delicious! The squid ink pasta was amazing. Make a reservation on the weekend!

Nice restaurant, the food is incredible. All dishes are made with careful. The staff is very efficient and the cozy atmosphere make this a great experience. If you wish to enjoy Porto’s night I recommend to have dinner at La Ricotta and then go to Douro River to drink a cup of wine.

After a week in Portugal, we needed something other than Portuguese food, and La Ricotta was just the fix. This is a lovely, sophisticated restaurant in a beautiful airy space with friendly, attentive service and a bar worthy of this wine-obsessed city. La Ricotta advertises itself as «Italian-Portuguese fusion,» but the preparations are clearly Italy-based, with the addition of Portuguese ingredients. Starters are rich — I wish there were salad options that contained more greens — but consistently good. The cheese plate is generous, and the caprese and vegetarian salads could be meals into themselves. All of our entrees were terrific. The pastas were perfectly cooked, and the confit duck(served with risotto) was as good as any version I’ve had. The best item of an excellent meal may have been the mandarin orange sorbet drizzled with limoncello for dessert. Outstanding. Service was great: attentive, friendly, knowledgable.

Presentation of the dishes at La Ricotta was very pleasing to the eye. The smoked swordfish carpaccio for example was nicely decorated with micro vegetables. The mixed cheese selection was turned into a nice ‘construction’ as was the pineapple dessert. Knowledgeable and helpfull staff together with the good ambiance and extended wine selection can turn dining here into a true big Portugese city experience.

One of the best restaurants on our 1 month Europe trip! We ate a lot of food on our trip and this has to go down as the top meal. It should also be noted that this is my first review of a restaurant I’ve ever made. It was so good so I had to review it! My husband had the veal chop and I had the gnocchi. Both equally delicious. The bread and oil to dip was fantastic, as well. Also, our waitress was perfect. She gave lots of wine suggestions and let us taste a port wine since we were unfamiliar with it. Great memories made at a wonderful restaurant in Porto!

AMONGTHEBESTINPORTO: This has to be among the best restaurants in Porto, Portugal. The décor is elegant and classic. The servers have a refined knowledge of the food and bar menu. They are quick to offer suggestions regarding the quality of particular meats or fish for that day. A crusty bread with a deep rich olive oil with pink peppercorns and a perfumed light olive oil for dipping is brought with the cocktails. Our appetizers consisted of a dual mozzarella, tomato with dressed arugula and a gorgonzola, parmesan with pumpkin purée. Both had a beautiful plating as well as quality fresh ingredients. The entries were a grilled 5″ shrimp and roasted crispy duck thigh. The portions were large and flavor of a 5 star restaurant. They offer a premium selection of wines but they also offer several Port wine tastings which the servers are very knowledgeable about. I would highly recommend this restaurant, it is a pleasure to dine there. The price is fair for the service, ambiance and quality of food.

Four of us had dinner at the La Ricotta our last night in Portugal after a two week Epicurean Adventure cruise/tour in Portugal and Spain. The dinner at La Ricotta was the highlight of the entire trip. We had more expensive meals, but did not have any that compared in quality to the meals we enjoyed that night. The steak(on the menu as a veal chop) was a porterhouse steak that was one of the tenderest and flavorful I have ever tasted. The pork and sliced beef were also outstanding, being flavorful and tender. The server was excellent and he made several suggestions regarding food and wine that all turned out to be excellent choices. In fact every part of the meal was outstanding. The décor was rustic mixed with modern and was very tasteful. All in all, it was an excellent way to end the vacation.
