Superb modern Portuguese food with an added touch of flavor and dishes with an international twist. The restaurant bares the name of its well-known Portuguese chef Jose Avillez. The bread comes with truffle butter and the orange dipping to start off the meal on a flavor-rich start. The veal risotto was great — not to heavy(unlike most risottos) and had great cherry tomatoes on top. Also order the cod which was more like a cod salad. Amazing mix a flavors with vegetables, bread and an egg. Amazing combo! Make sure you get the hazelnut dessert.

Great place for those who want a taste of Avillez food and can’t make it to Lisbon. While at first glance pricey, the portions are large. The burger with foie was large enough for two, and the excellent.

Delicious. We tried this place because Anthony Bourdain recommended the one in Lisboa. The food we all had was fantastic. Mine was a bit on the lite side(pretty much a fajita) but my friends had the veal, mushroom risotto, and the steak and they were all happy. My appetizer was the codified pie and it was amazing. If anything it was too big for an appetizer. Other apps were garlic shrimp, scallops, cod fish balls. Everyone was happy. Our server was incredibly pleasant and helpful translating things and providing more details and was a good sport. Well worth the trip.

Great restaurant opened by a famous chef who also has a michelin star rated restaurant in Lisbon. Infact, he has a handful of restaurants now. At lunch this caters to professionals out on lunch. At night it caters to both locals and visitors. You really need a reservation but if you don’t have one there is a chance you can sit at the bar and still be served off the full menu. We came in and we were not too hungry. Just had a couple small dishes and a drink. The first dish was a tasty slab of foie gras. The second dish was deep fried green beans served upright like french fries. For desert the waiter recommended a hazelnut mousse. It was outstanding. Could have easily downed three of them. Bottom line, if you cant get a reservation stop by anyway. Its so worth it. Most of his restaurants including one called MiniBar and another by the same name are in Lisbon.
