Best Lisbon experience eating out in family setting with very gracious host/​owner and cook/​wife. We were last to leave but did not feel rushed. Rustic cooking with plenty to eat. When I return to Lisbon, plan on coming back

With 5 hr delay, my husband and I arrived at our hotel much later than our usual dinner time. Not having time to orient ourselves or the energy to look up a place to eat, we went with our concierge’s recommendation just down the street.
One we arrived, we were greeted by the owner at the door and had the menu explained to us in its entirety. Since we were in for such late dinner, we decided to go with something light — seafood! They had at least 20 – 30 options on seafood alone. From barnacles to conch to snails, we struggled quite a bit on deciding! Ultimately, I ordered their local specialty, grilled cod, while my husband went with stingrays definitely not something we see every day on a menu!).
They grilled our fish right outside the restaurant. Although, It did take some time for them to be cooked and served, we appreciated how ready to be made and fresh they were. Both the cod and stingrays were simply seasoned with salt, pepper, and local herbs. They were served with boiled cubed potato and steamed veggies. The exterior of the fish were perfectly charred while the inside was moist and flakey. Overall — Very home made, very simple, very delicious
After just visiting Venice, we were wowed by how cheap our dinner costed for these two amazing seafood dishes along with a soft drink — a total of about 20 euros. The owner was very hands on and a total sweet heart in serving us. It left us wishing we were visiting for more days to have time to return for another meal. Then dinner was a definite treat and pleasant welcome meal to Lisbon!

What a great new addition to the area! Marias de Vinho Tinto is positively a great simple Restaurant! Siple Portuguese cuisine with fresh produce and simple cooking leads to a very good meal. A lot to choose from Seafood, fresh fish or grilled meat and the Portuguese classics like home. I will return!
