Loved this place! So happy to have found it on Unilocal. It is a little off the beaten path(not too much around) but is a non-touristy amazing restaurant that was delicious. The menu was available in english so we could navigate it easily. We had a fish special for dinner and it was caught that day. Would love to be able to visit this spot again!

This is an incredibly cute restaurant, and we had a great time here! We ordered the grilled shrimp and fish baked in salt(their special of the day). The shrimp was perfectly cooked, although I would’ve preferred some more spice. The salted fish, however, was DIVINE! Incredibly succulent and flaky and FULL of flavor! Although I had heard of this method of cooking fish many times before, I never had it myself or have seen it offered at a restaurant. So, when I heard it was on the menu, I had to order it and was so happy I did! There were some vegetables that came on the side that were also tasty. Just a note — we noticed several restaurants lock their doors if they are full. When we first arrived, around 8:30P, we were told there was no availability for another 45m even though we saw empty tables. Regardless, we came back within the said amount of time, and they sat us down right away!

A hidden gem! Everything was delightful. The olives, octopus salad, fish soup, and duck breast were all prepared very well. All this plus 2 espresso and a mineral water was € 37. Wonderful service! Not the upper excel on of fine dining, but you will have a hard time beating it for the price!

Great restaurant with great seafood! Have to try the mussels, sea bass, and codfish with corn bread. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. Would recommend making a reservation. Prices were also reasonable. Highly recommend.

Went here because of the rave local reviews. Did not disappoint. As I’ve come to realize $$$ in Portugal does not mean the same thing that it does in the STATES. This place is a little off the beaten path. Somewhat down the back slope of the barrio alto, on the 28 tram line. Hard to find, but harder to forget. They are a local joint. But cater to tourists as well. Menu is available in English. German, Dutch as well as Portuguese. We(my wife and I) has two appetizers, a bottle of indigenous wine(vino Verde), she had the rissoto, and I had the fish grilled on the salt. It was all to die for, and yeah, we then had a selection of multiple mouse to enjoy.(Wonder if the plural of mouse works like the north american moose). After all that the bill came to 53euro. A quick taxi ride and we were back in the barrio alto drinking sagres and listening to great local live music until 2:30am. I recommend heading here rather than the more touristy spots near the Baxia. Do it live! Signing off. J-Lou

Marvelous seafood ear the rive. Lisbon has a lot of very good places and the food is usually good but it sometimes lacks some research. Which is not the case here. I highly recommend the shrimps risotto.

Stopped here for lunch with a foodie friend from Belgium. I wasn’t sure what to expect but what was served to me was nothing short of perfection. To start I ordered the muscles, the octopus(Daily Special) as the main entrée, a dessert sampler featuring several mousses and tarts and a glass of vinho verde. What really surprised me was how affordable it all was. Didn’t spend more than 25 Euro. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere unique. It’s a little hard to spot from the outside. It’s not on a side street like we’d been told. I’ll let my pictures do the talking. If you’re in Lisbon, Frade’s is a must.

Wer rein will muss klingeln, Reservation empfohlen!

We love this intimate restaurant. There are about 15 tables, the waitstaff is always on hand for anything you need, including wine pairings, and the food was so delicious. Half way though my entrée, I asked why I saw octopus on so many menus around Lisbon. I was told they catch them locally and the owner of the restaurant actually catches all the octopus they serve at the restaurant. What could I do? I had to try it. I asked how I should have it prepared and they said with garlic and olive oil. It was the best meal I had in Lisbon.

Very good food. And good atmosphere. Stumbled upon this place. Odd and curious that you had to ring a bell to enter. Inside, small and cozy, modern décor. Interestingly enough, there’s a electronic device on each table for summoning your waitress. Food was really good and reasonably priced. I had the steak filet with mushroom sauce and my wife got the pork shank, the special of the night.

The restaurant was a able to accommodate a large group and had plenty of seafood and steak options. All of the food was average or better but nothing was spectacular. Glasses stayed full regardless of whether people were drinking water, wine, or soda. Staff were very friendly. The table next to us began smoking which was a bit obnoxious(who smokes anymore?) but we all managed to get through it.
