Chiado Caffe is a great small café with great pastries. When I’m in Barrio Alto I always stop by for goodies (try the pao de deus, coconut pastry). Aside from their delicious baked goods I really appreciate how affordable they as well as the clean ambiance of the café. For the most part the friendly staff speaks some English which made it easier for me. Make sure to check it out!

Sehr nettes kleines Café mit einer guten Auswahl an süßen Backwaren. Ich nahm einen Berliner mit Vanillecreme Füllung, die berühmten portugiesischen Eiertörtchen und ein Galao. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und ich bekam schnell meine Lieferung auf den Tisch. Trotz der riesigen Schlange bis zum Ausgangspunkt lief alles zügig. Wer am Tisch speist erhält eine Plastik Karte mit der dann beim verlassen an der Kasse eingezogen und schnell bezahlt werden kann. Bis nächstes Jahr!

A pleasant small café on a busy street. Stopped here for breakfast early in the day when most other businesses were closed. The egg tart, which they claim to be the best in Lisbon, was very good, though I can’t confirm their claims. Coffee and pastries for 2 people came to around 4 euros, an excellent value!
The staff was pleasant. Atmosphere feels a little like a chain pastry shop, very clean. There is another excellent shop down the street which we visited when this café was too busy, though I forget the name. It began with Pasteleria. It was of very similar quality but a little less clean perhaps.

Ambiente também é bem mais clean e aconchegante do que as lanchonetes turísticas.

Been in the café 3 times while staying in BA. Prices are unbelievable, all pastries are under € 2. Great for breakfast. Spinach and cheese pastry is pretty tasty. Latte was € 1.20. Would recommend for quick breakfast.
