Café ‘A Fábrica’‘

Like a home cooked meal — really, really good! And very good service too. Got Fish of the day, and it was served with the best potatoes ever!

Wow it is hard to get into here but worth it. Be sure to reserve a table. Nice atmosphere with inside and outside options. We were outside and it was BREEZY but they supplied very soft snuggly blankets to keep you warm. Their menu creatively goes beyond the standard peri peri options with daily specials like cauliflower and red pepper soup or fresh figs with goat cheese mousse. The service is friendly and attentive.
I had the seared tuna with soft poached egg which was delicous — a perfectly cooked generous portion with layers of toasted tomatoes, asparagus and olive tapenade. On the recommendation of the host the other members of my party had the portugese steak which was not so special — again a generous portion with nicely sauted potatoes but the meat was tough and just nothing special… They would have been better choosing other options which looked very appealing as they went past our table. But but but wait for the best part… despite the wind picking up we decided to stay for desert… and oh WOW it was worth it!
Sticky toffee pudding was devine with a really nice twist of crumbled gingery crumbs underneath the accompanying icecream which gave the whole dish a sticky warm, cold creamy, crunchy layered effect… oh yum… But but but that was not the best thing… Eton Mess was fantabulous… more like a deconstructed pavlova but delicous in every bite…3 layers of meringue, whipped cream, fresh rasberries… maybe some rasberry purée… its hard to remember exactly… you should have seen us fighting but trying not to seem too greedy over who was going to get the best bit!
Definitely recommend this place… absolutely would go back.
